SELF INTRODUCTION

REFLECTION BY TOPIC

REFLECTION TOPIC 1 : INTRODUCTION TO LEADERSHIP In today's class Professor shared that each leader has different leadership style. I aware that I need to improve my individual leadership qualities towards a great leader. Rather than being a boss who just giving out instructions, the leader need to be role model, provide support and guidance without fail depends on the followers. I should be available and have vast knowledge to assist followers who need my guidance. I understand the relationship between leader and leadership. The leader is the key person who influences followers in achieving organization organizational goals through change. In the process of influencing a leader to convey an idea for indirect support and influence, it also motivates its supporters to support what it wants to accomplish. Given the success of management and the excellent performance of the organization, we must be leaders in SIT. SIT is about sharing leadership responsibilities, teaching leadership competencies and influencing supporters to support organizational interests. Additionally, an effective leader should set goals before changing followers. Leadership must influence change. for continuous improvement to happen together.I am also learning in greater depth that leadership can be analyzed at three levels: organizational, group and individual. Different levels are going to focus on different leadership relationships. This video recording is a good idea to help me go through several revisions. In addition, e-learning also includes slides, and questions and short notes.

REFLECTION TOPIC 2 : LEADERSHIP TRAITS AND ETHICS From this topic learning outcomes big five personality dimensions, universality traits of effective leaders, achievement motivation theory and leader profile, theory X & theory Y, Pygmalion effect and positive self-concept. Leadership trait theories attempt to explain distinctive characteristics accounting for leadership effectiveness. Out of the top five personality models, a leader should dare to appear. As a leader, you should lead and not be led by other people. If this occurs, you are better off just being a disciple than a leader. If somebody orders you to speak publicly and you refuse to do so, you are a weak and cowardly leader. You have no courage in yourself, just like a student they need to be brave or stand apart in class. You do not have courage in you, just like a student, they must be courageous or stand out in the class. A leader needs to be coherent in the action they are in order to achieve something and they need to be good at coping and hanging out with other people.

REFLECTION TOPIC 3 : LEADERSHIP BEHAVIOR AND MOTIVATION From this topic learning leadership behavior. The leadership research had shifted from the trait theory to the behavioral theory paradigm. Leadership style is the combination of traits, skills and behaviors which leaders use as they interact with their followers. We learn that traits are distinguishing personal characteristics. A combination of traits that classifies an individual's behavior is called personality. The question of why leadership is important and are leaders are born or bred was discussed. Students shared their knowledge and experiences they undergo under their organization. I learn that the best leadership style would be the one which works for a leader in a specific time and environment. So that the leader can take a consequent motivation to enhance the behavior of followers in the direction. A leader needs to be flexible in using motivation theories across levels of need that don’t work in every environment in every situation or for every person.

REFLECTION TOPIC 4 : INFLUENCING: POWER, POLITICS, NETWORKING, AND NEGOTIATION From this topic learning about influencing, power, politics, networking, and negotiation. I learn about the influence is the process of affecting others’ attitudes and behavior to achieve an objective. A leader can influence his supporters through power, politics, networking and bargaining. Power is the capacity of a person, team or organization to influence others. Influencing is the process of affecting others’ attitudes and behavior to achieve an objective. Leaders have two sources of power which is the position power derived from the senior and personal leadership derived from the disciple based on the behavior of the leader. The leader must learn to be a good leader not to be ashamed to talk about mistakes committed by their followers, weak in communication, unskilled and have a high level of knowledge. The next learning is politics. Politics is the process of gaining and using power, act of life in organizations and neither good or bad. To maximize the positive impact of policy skills on others and their organizations, managers are encouraged to use networking practices. Leaders with strong networking skills are skilled in establishing connections and relationships with various groups of people. Leaders with good networking skills are also effective at leveraging their networks to make things happen quickly at work as well as to obtain critical resources for themselves and for their work teams. Negotiating skills are deployed daily in all areas of life, but play a particularly significant role in leadership. Good negotiations contribute to the success of leadership by helping you build better relationships and offer better quality solutions.

REFLECTION TOPIC 5 : CONTINGENCY LEADERSHIP THEORIES From this topic learning the contingency leadership theory. That mean its a class of behavioral theory that claims that there is no best way to organize a corporation are to lead a company, or to make decisions. Instead, the optimal course of action is contingent (dependent) upon the internal and external situations. Contingency theories of leadership focus on particular variables related to the environment. From this topic have three types of situational favorableness. That are leader-member relations, task structure and leader's position power. Leadership styles are the leader adjusts his style of behavior to the employee and task characteristics so that the employee's motivation is to excel at their goal as in Directive, Supportive, Participative, and Achievement. Situational leadership is a leadership style in which a leader adapts their style of leading to suit the current work environment and or needs of a team. This style of leadership is not dependent on the skills of a leader; rather it is based on a leader's ability to adjust to the requirements of a team or organization in order to be a better and more effective leader.

REFLECTION TOPIC 6 : COMMUNICATION , COACHING AND CONFLICT SKILLS Today i have learn Communication is the process of conveying information and meaning. Effective communication involves the ability to transmit and receive information with a high probability that the intended message is passed from sender to receiver. The sharing of information between individual or groups to reach a common understanding in order to accomplish organizational goals and objectives. Paraphrasing the process of having the receiver restate the message in his or her own words to ensure that communications has taken place. Feedback the process of verifying messages and determining if objectives are being met. Coaching the process of giving motivational feedback to maintain and improve performance. Maximize employee strengths and minimize weaknesses. Attribution theory the process managers go through in determining the reasons for effective or ineffective performance and deciding what to do about it. First, the manager tries to determine the cause of the poor performance. Second, the manager selects an appropriate corrective action. Conflict is a natural and healthy part of human personal and professional relationships. Conflict becomes unhealthy when it is handled in an unproductive manner.

REFLECTION TOPIC 7 : THE LEADER - FOLLOWER RELATIONSHIP Today I learn a leader mean person who leads or command a group or organization, manage others, inspire passion and motivation in followers. Relationship are way two or more people are connected, behave to each other, work together. Follower are a person who accept guidance, command or leadership to assist in achieving goals accomplishing task. The effective followers are described as courageous, responsible and proactive. They are found to be active in the two followership characteristics independent, critical thinking and good in Decision Making & Problem Solving. Delegation is a process of assigning to a subordinate the responsibility and authority for accomplishing objectives.

REFLECTION TOPIC 8 : TEAM LEADERSHIP Today I learn a small number of members with shared leadership who perform interdependent jobs with both individual and group accountability , evaluation and reward. A team is like a car in that it consists of multiple parts joined together to accomplish a particular task. A team is a group of people who come temporarily to achieve a purpose. Group mean two or more members with a clear leader who perform independents join with individual accountability, evaluation and reward. A collection of people who interact with one other, accept rights and obligations as members and who share a common identity. Example : a group of people waiting at a bus stop.

REFLECTION TOPIC 9 : LEADING SELFMANAGED TEAM(SMT) Self-managing teams are a key tool in creating such organizations. A self-managing team (SMT) is a group of individuals that use their diverse skills, knowledge and experience to achieve a common goal also called as self-maintaining teams. Within boundaries, it's the team members' responsibility to manage their own work, decide how to achieve goals, grow as a team and continuously improve. Empowered to decide on processes, objectives and product details, self- managing teams are better equipped to handle complex, unpredictable situations. Empowered to decide on processes objectives and product details, self- managing teams are better equipped to handle complex, unpredictable situations. Self-managed teams tend to be less costly and more productive than employees working within a traditional hierarchical structure because the team performs both technical and management tasks. Team members may also fill in for each other to cover holidays and absences. Decisions made by self-managed teams are more effective because they're made by the people who know most about the job. Although a cohesive self-managed team may create a sense of trust and respect between team members, overly cohesive teams can lead to "groupthink": Team members are more likely to conform with team norms than raise issues that may upset other team members. This may lead to reduced effort ог stifled innovation. Teams may struggle to make the transition from supervisor-led management to selfmanagement, either due to lack of interpersonal skills or poor implementation of the self- managed team concept within the organization.

REFLECTION TOPIC 10 : TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADERSHIP Today class I learn transformation leadership is a process in which "leaders and followers help each other to advance to a higher level of morale and motivation (Burns, 1978) the creator of “Transformational Leadership“ concept in 1978. Transformational leadership is a style of leadership where a leader works with teams to identify needed changes, creating a vision to guide the change through inspiration, and executing the change with committed members of a group. Transformational leadership represents a leadership style that covert subordinates to see beyond self-interest by changing their confidence and interest to perform beyond expectations(Khan et al., 2021). A transformational leader’s goal to inspire followers to share the leaders’ value and connect with the leader’s vision. Transformational leaders don’t start by denying the world around them. Instead ,they describe a future they’d like to create instead.

REFLECTION TOPIC 11 : LEVEL 5 LEADERSHIP Today class I learn leader is someone who has the power to influence and guide a team toward their shared goals. Others often see them as visionaries with charisma, integrity, and a talent for motivating others. But leadership is a bit different. It’s all about taking the reins, showing initiative, making decisions, and inspiring others to work together toward a common vision. It’s about helping to create a culture where everyone feels empowered to contribute their best. Personal humility are acting with quiet, calm determination. Shunning opportunities for public recognition, praise, or accolades. In good times: giving credit to other people, industry trends, or good luck. In tough times: taking personal responsibility when things turn out poorly. Professional will being fanatically driven to produce excellent result for the company. Building the organization up for success in the next generation. Doing what must be done to produce the best long-term results. The executive an executive is adept at helping the company pursue its mission. Using a combination of humility and a desire for professional success.

REFLECTION TOPIC 12 : AUTHENTIC LEADERSHIP Authentic leaders are ‘good in their skin’ , so good they don’t feel a need to impress or please others. They not only inspire those around them, they bring people together around a shared purpose and a common set of values and motivate them to create value for everyone involved. Authentic leadership characteristics are intrapersonal, developmental and interpersonal. Benefits of authentic leadership is able to maintain trust and cohesion among the group. Able to build positive and rewarding relationship. Maintain consistency for an organization. Ethical and moral standards are guaranteed.
