A Long, Long Time ago, there was a cricket named Blue.
She was named after the sky she loved so true.

She would look up at the sky all day long

while the other crickets played and hopped merrily along.

Then one day a dragonfly landed near
and heard the whispered wish,
Blue, the cricket held so dear.

I wish I could fly. Crickets my dear, he said, belong on the ground
and if you fell,

well, you may never ever be found.

The little cricket answered, "Yes, I know, but to the sky
is where my heart longs to go."

"I have wings to help me fly but

they will only carry me about one foot high."

"To the top is where I long to be, said Blue!"
"Hey! Maybe you could help me make my dream come true."

The dragonfly said, "I don't know if that is a safe thing to do,
but, if you can help me, then I will try and help you."

"What can I do to help, Mr. dragonfly,"
the cricket cheerfully asked?

Everyone calls me Drake, said the dragonfly.

My name is Blue, she said,
with her bright eyes as Blue as the sky.

"Some water would be nice, to put in my cup,
there never seems to be enough."

"I carry water to those who are sick

but there seems to be a water shortage,
since the farmer filled in the ditch."

I am sure I can help you, Mr. Dragonfly
Blue started to rub her legs together,

and sing her beautiful song.
Instantly, tiny raindrops fell from the sky

and the dragonfly and his friends
carried water to those in need
all day long.

When the sky cleared and there was no
more rain, Blue waited for the dragonfly
to return again, and when the dragonfly
did not return, the cricket's face had a

look of concern.

"I just know he will return,"
Blue whispered to herself low,
He just has to, for he promised me so.

Just as Blue's heart begin to sink low,
along came Draco, the dragonfly, and

asked,
“Are you ready to go?”

Blue's eyes opened wide and
shouted "Yes!

I am ready to fly!"

The little cricket jumped on the
dragonfly's back and held on tight.

Blue was read
y to take flight.

To the top of the tree, Draco flew and landed on
the tip-top, like Drake, promised Blue.
Blue whispered,
"Dreams do come true!"

Drake never again worried about a drought
as his friend, Blue, was always about.

And Blue took many more flying adventures
as the years went by

On the back of her friend, Draco,
the dragonfly.

Blue told her story of how a cricket flew up into the
sky, with the help of a dragonfly friend and

she shared all of her adventures again, and again.
