Youth suicide prevention information

Spring is a time for spring breaks, vacations and parties. Schools are out for
spring vacation and some youth may feel they have no where else to go, and for
them it is a time of loneliness and depression. According to the latest CDC WIS-
QARS National Data Reporting, when examined as an age group 10-24 compari-
son, suicide is the 2nd leading overall cause of youth death for Ohio. In Ohio, every
1.36 days on an average a young person (ages 10-24) is lost to the silent epidemic
of youth suicide.
As a parent, take action and spring forward with JFI information and resources.
By knowing the warning signs associated with suicide and knowing how to help,
you could save a life during the spring season. If you or someone you love is strug-
gling with depression and/or thinking about suicide, get help now because suicide
does not take a break.
