New Police Station at Elyria Safety Town Wanted shoes, shoes
and more shoes!

The Keystone Elementary School PTA in LaGrange
is having a shoe drive. They need to collect 7,500 pairs
of shoes to make the shoe drive a success. The PTA is
reaching out to the community to help make this pos-
sible. They are collecting shoes you already have on
hand, new or gently worn. Please do not go out and buy
shoes for the drive. All sizes and styles are needed.

The shoes that are collected at this drive will be pack-
aged in lots of 25 and shipped to needy countries around
the world. The PTA gets 49¢ a pound for their work.

During June-August, there will be two drop off
points: LaGrange IGA, located at 540 N. Center St., in
LaGrange, box will be inside IGA in hallway and Farm
& Home Hardware, located at 120 South Main St., in
Wellington, box will be outside of the front store under
the store’s porch area.

community through projects like this,” said Dr. Faircloth. “Our students are also learning the importance of collab-

Mayor Holly Brinda said the replica of the Elyria Police Department is absolutely amazing! “The city of Elyria
is so appreciative of the work done by the Lorain County JVS students and their teachers. This project was a great
collaboration, and a great way for students to help other students.”

According to RGI, the replica was a good technical challenge for the students and it also supports the mission
of Safety Town to help children become familiar with their own community and recognize safe places. For RGI,
collaborating with the JVS students is an important opportunity to foster talent and develop the trades.

The JVS carpentry class of 2018 presented Mayor Brinda and the Elyria Police Department with hammers as a
symbol and remembrance of the occasion. The hammers are engraved with the words; “Dedication of the Safety

presented a street sign, “Kerstetter Way,” which will be placed on the Safety Town street in front of the new police
