1.2 Background of study
(1 enter @ start at 2nd enter after title)

It was reported that people are having an increased of stress throughout the year. The causes of
the stress includes balancing between family and work, excessive time for working and forced to
work while being sick (Shambrook, 2012). Stress arises when an individual perceived that it is
hard to cope with the demands being made on them or threats to their well being (Lazarus,
1993).

(1 enter @ start at 2nd enter after last sentence)

There are many interventions and methods available in order to cope with stress. People
from the West have introduced various psychotherapy techniques for coping with stress and
stress management programs. Cognitive therapy is one of the psychotherapy that is used as a
mean of reducing stress. Another physical stress reducing program which combined physical
exercise and relaxation was introduced and has proven to be effective as well as cognitive
therapy (Van Rhenan, Blonk, Van der Klink, Van Dijk & Schaufeli, 2005).
