Dear Ulta beauty,
This letter is in response to your advertisement that you have recently
posted on indeed.com. I was excited to learn about the job post
because I match up to the requirements listed in the job advertisement.
I have completed an approved cosmetology program at San Jacinto
community college. I have been with all beauty treatments which range
from hair, skin and nails. I might be 19 but I am mature and
professional individual. Working well with others and communicating is
something that I am confident in doing. I have an eye for fashion, and a
passion for makeup. Housekeeping chores are also something I don’t
shy away from. I think everyone in a salon should do their part.
I am thankful for the time you have taken to read my letter and
considering it for the post.
Sincerely,
Mary Meehleder
Why I chose cosmetology
Cosmetology always has, and always will be a part of my life. My
mother is a hair stylist so I've been in a salon since I was a baby.
Although, being a hairstylist wasn’t what I wanted to be when I grew
up. I wanted to be an actor. Doing theater throughout my school career
revealed a few things about myself. Theater showed me that I was
artistic and creative, something I had never seen in myself before. I also
learned to work with others and to improvise. These skills I learned in
theater can all be applied to cosmetology.
With cosmetology I am allowed artistic freedom because there is
no wrong way to do hair. I love expressing my creative ability with
others. Working with people is also something I enjoy about this
business. I like how everyone that gets in my chair is different. It's like a
game having someone new in my chair. I have to be able to read the
person based on their actions and what they say. The hard part is acting
upon their actions and adapting to a new situation every time.I enjoy
how theater and Cosmetology go hand to hand.
It is the reason why I chose cosmetology. My goal is first take
some time to hone in on my hair and make-up skills until I have the
confidence to work independently. Then to eventually work for the
theater community once again doing what I love the most in a place
where I belong.
