Phi Nu Kappa Sorority, Inc. can proudly announce that we have given service for 15 years
to all areas of the community through commerce, nourishment, and physical contributions
where needed. The women of Phi Nu Kappa have dedicated themselves to uplifting each
other as a Sisterhood via numerous bonding events and activities as well as carrying the
torch of our Great organization into the future!
Our leadership is generously disbursed within our communities through a vast array of oc-
cupations carried by the Sisterhood. Giving of ourselves through education, healthcare,
technology, liberal arts, and ministry to all communities. Phi Nu Kappa Sorority, Inc. have
developed an increased awareness of what the community desires and continues to an-
swer in every way possible. We take pride in creating avenues for our youth with higher ed-

need holistically.

“The Gratitude in Honoring Your Parents”

What is the big deal about showing honor towards your parents, especially if they were not
good parents or even present parents? This is a question I have struggled to answer for
many years. How do you show honor towards a parental unit who may have been abusive,
abandoned you, gave you up for adoption or even subjected you to the horrors of addic-
tion?
The truth of the matter is, there are no perfect parents. Even if you have the best relation-
ship with your parents, I am sure there is something you can point to in your life that you
believe they did not do the best at. This brings me to the first and possibly most important
way to show honor towards our parents and it is by forgiving them. I can hear some people
saying, “well that is easy for you to say, your parents didn’t abandon you or molest you or
(fill in the blank here of anything your parents did that hurt or harm you).” Hear me out
though love, the more dysfunctional the relationship is between you and your parents, the
more need there is to honor them with forgiveness. Here is the thing, no matter what sin
our parents have done against us, we give ourselves the gift of healing by honoring them
with forgiveness. We also admit to the mature fact that our parents are perfectly imper-
fect—-like us. Our parents had their own demons to battle with, as we all do. The sooner
we are able to honor our parents by forgiving them, the easier it will be to forgive our-
selves when we make our own mistakes.
Whether we appreciate it or not, we came from our parents…our parents did not come from
us. This fact alone makes them worthy of our honor, no matter what their character defect
may be. We are not meant to be the judge of our parents. You and I are a reflection of our
parents down to the dna in our body. If we are able to practice the spiritual principle of un-
conditional love to our parents, it will become easier to have unconditional love for self.
