Founder & President of the

The original flag had 8 stripes. Hot pink for sex, red for life, orange for healing, yellow for sun, green for serenity with
nature, turquoise for art, indigo for harmony, and violet for spirit. All things that we all as people despite race, religion,
class, creed or nationality would want for ourselves and would want in our lives. At no point was race a factor. It should
have been a given that every person is covered under this flag. It wasn’t only white people being shunned for being gay, it
was anyone regardless of your skin color.

Racism doesn’t end just because we all may share some things in common. We cannot assume that just because
someone is black, white, Latino(a), Asian, etc that they share our same views. Similarly, we cannot assume that just be-
cause someone is part of the LGBTQIA community in 2017 that they love equally outside their race as they do within their
race. I guess we cannot expect people to look past our skin color and just see another human being sharing the same
struggles in life.

Regardless, of how someone else may feel. We must remember that it starts with us. We decide how we choose to
treat our fellow man. We cannot call for equality and acceptance for the gay community as a whole, while we display hate-
ful tendencies to one another within our community. Respect, acceptance and humility come from within. Within ourselves
and within our community. If we want change, we have to be the definition and leaders of that change.

Smart tips for the “Dom”

“Dom” tip of the Day: By Bruh Prophecy

“The Dapper Dom”…this is one on my favorite tips because society tries to put us in a box and holds us to stereotypical
standards...thinking we ALL dress and act the same…I don’t do standards, unless I’m setting them…I live to make a pos-
itive statement and as a proud member of Theta Xi Theta I live up to what sophistication is all about… it’s not enough to
dress the part but you have to act the part…I don’t mean acting like a man but thinking like a gentleman. Here are a few
things to remember:

1. When wearing jewelry in a business setting follow the “one each” rule…One watch, one ring, one bracelet…it’s just
enough to have it, but not to flaunt it. Class equals simplicity.

2. When wearing a blazer or cardigan, one should never unbutton it with TWO hands…sounds funny, but to be able to
open it with ONE shows grace, class, and confidence that you have it handled, opening it with TWO hands is a sign of in-
experience, clumsiness, and lack of sophistication…remember practice makes perfect…if it still sounds funny think of it
like this… what’s sexier to your lover, releasing the clasp on her bra with one hand, leaving the other free to do…*clears
throat* other things…or Two hands while she has to wait for your next move??? Hmmmmm…Think about it.

3. Know what smells good on YOU…I emphasis the YOU part…what may smell good on me, may not smell good or
the same on you…everyone has a different pH level and hormone level so certain chemicals my cause different smell to
come through your pores…this is important to understand…not sure what’s right for you? One weekend take a trip to the
perfume/cologne counter at the mall and spray on a few samples…see what smells good and have your friend help you
decide…your sense of smell is a powerful thing and can play a major role and how people approach you…I nice smell can
stop a person man or woman in their tracks…when you do find that perfect smell remember…don’t bathe in it! It’s meant
to accent you attire not burn an extra hole in someone’s nose! If a person can identify the cologne/perfume you are wear-
ing, you are wearing too much. Also apply the cologne on your naked body. Never spray cologne on your clothes because
it may stain and ruin your garments.

Top 5 best places to spray:

1. Behind your ears
2. On the inside of your elbow joints
3. On the inside of your wrists
4. In the small of your back
5. On your ankles

Cook Time Gizzards: 2Hr (or 20-25 min in Pressure Cooker)

Wash and clean the gizzards well and cut into half inch pieces.
Places in large pot, add water and salt to taste. Cook until they
are soft. (Cook time is approximately 2hr. May cook in pressure
cooker for 20 min to lessen cook time).

Cook Time Green Bananas: 20-25 min

Cut both ends off the bananas. Cut Slits down end to end on 2
sides of bananas and cook with the peal. Add salt to water for
taste and add a tbsp. of oil to the water. (This will help the peel
come right off after cooking and this is much easier then peeling
ahead which can make your hands black). Once bananas are
cooked, remove the peels and cut the bananas into wheels.

Cook time Sauce:

In a quart sized pot heat up the one cup of oil, once oil is hot add
the peppers, onions, and drained olives add approx. ½ teaspoon
of salt and ½ teaspoon of black pepper. Cook on med-high heat

ions are translucent add vinegar, parsley and Italian seasoning.
Stir and cook for another 2 min over low-medium heat. Remove
from heat and let sit.

“A Dish To Share”

Taco Ring!

2 cresent roll tubes
1 LB ground beef ( or ground turkey)
1 packet of taco seasoning
1 1/2 cups grated cheddar cheese
Shredded lettuce
1 or 2 diced tomatoes depending on size
1/2 small can Olives (sliced) (Avocado, Sour cream etc)

Directions:
1. Separate the cresent pastry and lay out in a circle, pointed ends out on a foil lined pizza pan, sprayed

very lightly with cooking spray. Use some of the leftover cresent rolls to make the center a bit thicker as
this will hold the meat.
2. Brown meat in a frying pan until no longer pink. Drain fat and add taco seasoning as directed on pack-
age, reducing the water to a scant 1/3 cup called for. Drain excess liquid from meat.
3. Sprinkle meat mixture in a circle inside the cresent rolls, then sprinkle 1 cup of the cheese over the
meat. Pull cresent roll points over meat and cheese and tuck in.

Bake at 350 degrees until pastry is golden brown (30 min).

4. Add remaining 1/2 cup of cheese, chopped lettuce, tomato, black olives, and jalapenos (if using), into the
middle of the ring, then add a few dollops of sour cream if desired, before serving.

Black Single Mothers and the Child Welfare System examines the struggles women of color face in working with the
child welfare system and how social workers who investigate childhood abuse and neglect can effect positive change.
This book addresses intersectionality and ideological, institutional, interpersonal, and internalized oppression and how it
affects the safety, permanence, and well-being of children. Through research and case examples, the reader will be im-
mersed in a historical perspective of oppression faced by black single mothers involved with social service systems, ex-
amine ways oppression plays out in child welfare supports and services, and discover new integrated methods of ad-
dressing oppression.
