ABOUT DORAN PARK
In 2006 the Bourne Braves began playing

Barry J Motta Athletic Complex behind
Upper Cape Technical High School. The
new location allows for larger crowds and
the Braves an opportunity to host CCBL
All Star games but most importantly gives
our fans a world class field to watch their
beloved Braves.
On July 8th, 2007 the baseball field
was officially dedicated in the name of
George Doran, Sr., a longtime Sagamore
Beach resident and avid baseball fan.
Doran Park was officially commemorated with a sign unveiling and on field dedication ceremony.
Highlights of the day’s festivities included George’s grandson, Patrick, throwing out the first pitch
along with his Dad, John, and Katherine Doherty, George’s eldest great-grandchild, singing both the
National Anthem and God Bless America. John Doran, son of George Sr., was the family member
most instrumental in finding this way to celebrate his Dad’s legacy.
In 2008 the Bourne Braves played their home games under the lights for the first time in Braves
history. On June 11th, 2008 the Bourne Braves, the Cape Cod Baseball League, Upper Cape

LETTER FROM THE GM
After a summer of no baseball in 2020, we were thrilled to welcome our players and fans
back in 2021 for another season of Bourne Braves baseball, and what a season it was! A
dominant team from beginning to end which earned the Braves the league’s best record
and our second trip to the Cape League finals since 2017.
With the excitement of last season still in our minds, we are thrilled to welcome a new
manager to the dugout as Scott Landers makes is Bourne Braves debut this summer. Scott
brings fiery energy and great experience to a squad looking to capture the franchise’s
elusive second Cape League championship.
As always, seeing Doran Park full of cheering fans brings us the most excitement and we
can’t wait to welcome back the best fans in the Cape Cod Baseball League. Remember,
like all ten teams in the league, that the Braves are run by a group of tireless volunteers
with the sole goal to ensure a great atmosphere of family fun for our fans.
So grab a lawn chair, sit back and enjoy baseball the way it was meant to be played.
Go Braves!

BRAVES AND THE MVP
In 2013, Max Pentecost (Kennesaw State) became the fifth Bourne player to win the Cape Cod Baseball
League’s Most Valuable Player Award. Pentecost joins former Braves’ Travis Jankowski (Stonybrook,
2011), Kyle Roller (East Carolina, 2009), Dick Licini (Notre Dame, 1968 and Ron Bugbee (Connecticut,
1965 - Sagamore) to win the coveted award, now named for Pat Sorenti. Pentecost is the first catcher
to win the Cape League MVP since Jason Varitek (Georgia Tech) won the award for Hyannis in 1993.
