Synopsis

The film begins in March 2020, after an announcement that the USA will go into
lockdown after a rapid spread of cases in the newly surfaced virus called ‘Covid-
19’. The film cuts between different settings: a high school, a workplace and a
group of ladies who are close friends. In all scenes, all characters are adjusting
themselves to the announcement. This is the last day of normality for everyone and
they are all making the most of it. The high school scene focuses particularly on
two characters a male and female, in two different classes. The audience don’t
know their significance in the film yet, but it shows their difference in
personalities. The boy is more outgoing, popular but nerdy, the girl is much quieter
and to herself. They boy is sitting in a computer-science class having a good time
with his friends, he is happy about lockdown, talking about his plans to make a
new website in his free time. This is overheard by a fellow classmate who we
establish has a strong dislike for him but are never told why. He smirks at this idea
before the bell is dismissed. In the other class, the girl is sitting on her own, other
girls’ smirks in the background. She is reading a textbook almost in tears.

In a small, quiet, undisturbed neighbourhood in Pennsylvania lives an average
family consisting of brother and sister Zak and Annabelle Adams. They are both
high school students living a normal teenage life. The film begins to show their
normal everyday life, their daily routine. It introduces us to the characters in a
simple way, revealing they were the characters from previously and are brother and
sister .They are shown eating breakfast around the island before online school they
are not a well-off family so they only have one laptop however they both have an
online session, Anabelle is making fun out of Zak for being a nerd and how he will
never get anywhere with studying computer science and how her Biology course is
much more important. Zak gives in to her, however, to mock her back he says
‘You’re so annoying Annabelle, I wish you’d just disappear sometimes’

She goes upstairs to attend her class and this is when the weird things start
happening. She searches ‘Zoom’ on Google and all is normal.
