PMS IN FOCUS!
PMS is not a tool designed to punish employees at the end of the appraisal period;
rather, it is a tool for continuous staff development, performance improvement and
management!!
Performance Management System (PMS) is one of the most crucial HR and Management
functions and duties. PMS is as a user-friendly STAFF development and communication tool that
increases the positive relationship between employees and the management members.
All Management members at all levels should use the PMS system and log their individual employees’
performance related data (CPRs) on a regular and high-quality basis with the view to link it to each
employee’s productivity, motivation, professional or career training and development, performance
reward, grievance reduction and engagement in general. This regular communication tool helps
produce an objective and summarized evaluation at the end of the appraisal period.
Please note that you should also provide them quarterly performance feedback to show their
performance progress for the last 3 months period.
• Give ongoing feedback: Rather than waiting until the review period is over, be sure to give
feedback and coaching on a regular basis. This ensures the employee develops and helps
them reach their objectives.
• Reinforce: Make sure an employee maintains good performance with clear and continuous
communication and that is why we say BSC is a developmental tool rather than a punitive tool.
