1. Background & Objectives

Background

WAFCAT has been supporting wheelchair to children with disabilities for
22 years. We had provided more 3,600 units and promotes those of children
to get education as same as general students. So some of them who are not
severe disabilities could enter the main-stream schools, special schools and
non-formal schools. But there are still several difficulties for them such as
family’s financial problem, transportation, unfriendly environment, negative
attitude from other people, including regulation and policy of education
system. Therefore, WAFCAT began the education support project for children
with disabilities in 2017 in order to provide scholarship to each grantee
student base on their individual need assessment. This year 2021, WAFCAT
supports 52 students with disabilities. The objective of the fund is to promote
them to highest education and become to get employed to earn income for
self-reliance

WAFCAT has been organize capacity development camp every year
since 2018 under the name of “ICE-CREAM” Camp. But because of the
pandemic of COVID-19 this year, we could not hold the camp. Therefore,
we would hold the online program instead. We would divide grantee
students into two groups in order to create the program base on their
need and interest.

Objectives

1. To promote students to find out their abilities, capacity and talents
2. To promote students to set their goal of life after graduation
3. To promote students to higher education
4. To promote students the leadership and create networking between

senior student and junior students in order to support each other
