• A
critical
issue
facing
America’s
schools
is
the
discipline
gap.
Nationally,
Black
students
comprise
16%
of
PK-‐12
students;
yet
represent
32%-‐42%
of
students
suspended
or
expelled
from
school.

Proposed
Intervention
for
PoP
• A
person’s
overall
level
of
bias
is
a
function
of
both
conscious
and
unconscious
attitudes.
Conscious
attitudes
are
referred
to
as
explicit
attitudes
while
unconscious
attitudes
are
referred
to
as
implicit
attitudes.
The
net
effect
of
one’s
explicit
and
implicit
attitudes
can
be
described
as
their
overall
level
of
bias.
The
proposed
intervention
seeks
to
impact
educators
overall
level
of
bias
through
professional
development
experiences
(debiasing
interventions),
designed
to
reduce
educators’
levels
of
implicit
bias
toward
Blacks
and
create
more
conscious
awareness
of
the
impact
that
race
still
has
on
outcomes
in
our
society.
