Bismillah.

Assalamualaikum.

Alhamdulillah. It has taken me a long time to finally publish a book because the
recipes herein are time-tested yet timeless and relevant till the end of time.

You may not know who I am. You don't have to know how old I am. I survived the
second World War. The purpose of writing this book is so that the priceless
information in it could be shared by anyone in need of it.

At the end of each recipe, I have included anecnotes. Take your time to reflect and
ponder in total honesty. I'm sure you'll agree with me. Well, as I said, I survived the
second World War. Experience can't be bought with money. Words of wisdom don't
come free.

If in any event, you do not agree, then it is entirely not my problem, let alone my
responsibility. Simple right? That's the way it should be. Keep your life simple.
Declutter. You'll be stress-free.

I encouraged you to try the recipes. In case you fail, keep trying. You'll never know
when it may just come in handy. Fail again, never give up while you are still alive.

1. Timeless Fruit Cake Recipe
a.k.a Resipi Fruit Cake Mak.

Ingredients:

6 ounces of self-raising flour.
(If you are using ordinary flour, add baking powder or bicarbonate soda to it)

4-4.5 ounces of sugar.
(Nak lagi manis, make it 6 ounces.)

3 big eggs.
(If small, 4.)

5.5 ounces of mixed fruits
(Must be soaked in orange juice, overnight.)

250 grams of butter.

2 teaspoons of vanilla essence.

Method.

Pukul telur & gula sampai kembang.
Bila dah kembang, add in vanilla.

Now, pay attention for here's the TOP secret.

Bila nak masukkan buah & tepung, kena silang-silang, 1 senduk buah, gaul. Then 1
senduk tepung, gaul lagi and in one direction either clockwise or anti.

Otherwise, buah dia turun bawah.

Grease your tin. Bakar between 35 - 45 minutes. 180C

Dilla's Anecdotes:

Of the many kinds of cake available in the market, bakeries, youtube, you name it,
the Fruit Cake stands timeless not because it has survived the war but because
people come and go.

Some will like the Red Velvet. Others prefer the Cheese. No matter how velvety or
cheesy they all are, there will be people who love the Fruit Cake. One of them may
be your future mother-in-law. So take this recipe seriously.

So what if you're already married? Well who knows. Perhaps this is the secret
preferred cake of your boss Okay so what if you're already married and you are self-
employed? Even better. Perhaps your children may some day get bored with all the
velvety and cheesy stuff and may like the Fruit Cake for a change. Who knows?
Sometimes, we tend to think that something is good for us. In time, we learnt that it's
bad for us. Some other time, we think that something is bad for us but it is actually
good for us. So take this recipe seriously. At least keep it handy. Best if you practice
it till you're able to make a good one.

2. Cara Buat Telur Masin

Telur masin a.k.a Salted Eggs.

You'll need:

10 duck eggs.

Method:

Rendam telur itik dalam air garam.

To make air garam:

Add in 250 grams garam.kasar a.k.a garam jantan into the water.

Keep the eggs in the water for a minimum period of 2 weeks or maximum 40 days.

Dilla's Anecdotes:
So you don't like telur masin? That's not my problem but let me tell you something.
Telur masin is a preferred delicacy by some people. In China towns across the globe,
I'm quite sure you can find telur masin being sold there. So even if you don't like telur
masin, why don't you take this recipe seriously? Who knows. Perhaps you can be a
telur masin exporter soon. If you sell just one basket of telur masin, sure you get only
a day's take. but if you sell 1 or 2 or 3 containers, you'll be a millionaire soon.
Remember, the volume counts. The recipe is good enough, the rest you work it out.

3. Cara Buat Jeruk Maman

Siang dan basuh maman.
Rebus asam keping (10 keping) dalam air.
Kuantiti air agak-agak la...to be proportionate dengan mamannya)

Tunggu air rebusan tadi sejuk. Bila dah sejuk, baru masukkan maman. Letak garam
sikit but the garam should not overide the asam.

Caution:
The maman must submerge in the water
Keep for 2 - 3 days. Check the colour of the maman. It's ready when becomes pale.
Not green anymore..

Dilla's Anecdotes:
If you like jeruk maman, better learn how to make it yourself. In some places, only
fresh mamans can be found. In other places, even the fresh ones are unheard of. So
better be prepared. Where fresh mamans are found, at least you can turn it into jeruk.
When you can't find the fresh one, you can use the same method of pickling to pickle
other leafy greens or even cabbages.

And what do we eat jeruk maman with ? Rice right? Well...in other cuisines where the
people's mainstay is bread, they eat it with pickles. So why don't you take this recipe
seriously and start a maman plantation? Then a jeruk maman production. So you
start selling it at the local hypermarket. Then you export. Check out the hypermarket
chain in other countries and continents. Get the idea? Now go!

4. Resipi Serunding
Mak Mentua Lalu Tak Nampak

If you ever forget how to make this serunding, remember this phrase "Mixing So
Many Cultures Together".

That explains how it is done.

Take all the left over gravy of last night's chicken curry or fish head curry. Best to use
beef or chicken curry.

Dry each one separately. Put them in a wok over slow fire. Keep on stirring till it is
dry.

Bahan Untuk ditumbuk:
Jintan kasar(jintan putih), jintan halus (jintan manis) & ketumbar.
The quantity of each depends on how much is the gravy.

Note:
If you are using biji ketumbar,kena goreng dulu tanpa minyak. Then tumbuk or grind
sampai halus.

Next, you are going to mix them all.

Potong shallots (bawang rose) 5- 6 ulas, garlic 3-4 ulas & halia sikit. Ricih semua. Fry
with a little bit of minyak. Bila dah layu, masukkan kuah yang kita keringkan tadi tu.
Masukkan kerisik and bahan yang ditumbuk.

Garam. According to taste.

Sugar. According to taste.

Chilli Powder. Optional.

Gaul all. This turns out to be a different recipe.

Jangan banyak cakap. Life is short. Try it first. You'll soon know why it is called
Serunding Mak Mentua Lalu Tak Nampak. (That's Malay for 'You're oblivious of
your mother inlaw's presence')

5. Cara Memindahkan Anak Pokok

From One Place To Another Place In A Hurry.

Cabut anak pokok dari tempat semaian.
Kepal tanah liat. Masukkan anak pokok itu di tengah2, then kepalkan tanah liat
forming a round shape.
Note:
Pastikan tanah itu tanah liat betul.
Bukan yang campur pasir. It has to be the kind that is used to make pottery stuff.
Caution:
Kalau takde tanah liat, make sure u get a small container and tanam straight away
anak pokok tadi. Keep it moist all the time.
Don't water the thing. Just drip water. Make the tanah liat always moist. Insya Allah it
could stay for days.

Dilla's Anecdote:
When planting pokok try to do it on a Wedneday. Petua orang tua-tua. Unless you
have seriously green fingers.

Bonus Recipe

Kerabu Pucuk Paku

Thank you for your time. Enjoy a bonus recipe as a token of appreciation.

Ingredients:

Ricih bawang besar, bawang putih, halia.
Nak sedap lagi, goreng beras tanpa minyak,lepas tu tumbuk sampai hancur.
Makes it wangi.

Kerisik & bawang is the basic for a kerabu.
Serai and beras are the two that attracts the crowd.
Potong sebatang dua serai & tumbuk.

Rencahnya ikan bilis.

Dilla's Anecdote:
The top secret in making kerabu is in the hand that is making it. So make sure you
wash your hands first. Make Mama proud!
