Established in 1985, Bordas & Bordas has forged a reputation
as one of the premier personal injury firms in the region. Our
founding partners, Linda and Jim Bordas, are passionate
advocates for the injured and are joined by a team of dedicated
attorneys and legal professionals.

has been featured on television and in print media nationwide.
We have the necessary resources to handle complex personal
injury cases including catastrophic injury and wrongful death.
We pride ourselves in providing personalized, responsible,
and attentive service to every client.
Above all else, the attorneys and staff at Bordas & Bordas
apply Christian values to the pursuit of justice for our clients.
We are active in the community in which we both work and
live and we fully support community partners who strive to
help those less fortunate members of our surrounding areas.
Bordas & Bordas has grown to seventeen attorneys and
over twenty staff members. The firm is one of the largest
plaintiffs firms in the state of West Virginia, serving clients
on a local, regional and national level. Throughout the years,
Bordas & Bordas has established a proven record of success
helping the insured and mistreated in West Virginia, Ohio, and
Pennsylvania.
THE SHIELD
The Bordas & Bordas coat of arms represents much
more than the firm itself. Each of the four quadrants
making up the shield represents a principle that
Bordas & Bordas embodies, bound together by
Christian principles illustrated in the cross dividing
the quadrants.
Experience. Family. Community. Results.
QUADRANT ONE
EXPERIENCE
JIM BORDAS
Partner
A trial lawyer for 40 years, Jim Bordas founded Bordas &
Bordas with his wife, Linda, in 1985. Over the course of his
career, Jim has obtained outstanding results in virtually
every area of tort law. Major verdicts and settlements in
cases of product liability, medical malpractice, chemical
exposure, lender liability, bad faith insurance, nursing home
abuse, bad faith insurance practices, workplace injuries
and wrongful death have been his calling card. Record
setting awards for Jim’s clients include a $50,000,000
verdict in 2002 that remains one of the largest ever
awarded against a nursing home corporation. Jim and his
cases have been featured on national television on both
60 Minutes and Inside Edition.
Jim has received numerous awards and recognition for
prowess in the courtroom, but remains most proud of
his recognition from his fellow trial lawyers, and of the
extensive charitable work the firm’s success has enabled.
Jim continues to be active not only in all aspects of the
firm’s traditional practices, but also in expanding its scope
to business cases, mineral rights disputes, class actions
and other complex litigation.
LINDA BORDAS
Partner
Linda Bordas founded Bordas & Bordas with her husband,
Jim, when she joined his practice upon graduating from
law school in 1985. She had previously worked as a
pharmacist and immediately applied her background to
become one of West Virginia’s most successful medical
malpractice attorneys. Linda obtained numerous major
verdicts and handled appeals that expanded the rights of
patients and especially the families of children who were
injured or killed as a result of negligence.
Linda has handled cases involving orthopedic surgery,
internal medicine, surgery, radiation oncology, pediatrics,
cardiology and cancer treatment. Extraordinary
preparation and dedication to protecting her clients was
her calling card. Linda’s mission as a litigator is not only to
do justice for her seriously injured clients, but also to make
West Virginia and Ohio a safer place by holding physicians
and hospitals to accepted standards of professional
practice.
Linda is a member of the West Virginia Association for
Justice. She is a member of the Board of Governors of that
organization and has been past member of the executive
committee. She is a member of the West Virginia State Bar
Association, Ohio State Bar Association and the American
Association for Justice. Linda has lectured in the areas of
medical malpractice and trial practice in general.
Linda and Jim have two sons, Jamie and Ben, and seven
grandchildren.
SCOTT S. BLASS
Partner
Scott Blass, a West Virginia Super Lawyer and West Virginia
Association for Justice Member of the Year Award Winner,
has been litigating complex civil cases for over 25 years. He
has obtained seven-figure verdicts on behalf of his clients in
diverse areas of the law, including verdicts of over $4 million
in a product liability case, $8 million in an auto accident case,
$1.4 million in an insurance bad faith case, and $5.7 million in
a medical malpractice case. Scott is a Past President of the
West Virginia Association for Justice. He has been recognized
as one of the foremost insurance bad faith and insurance
coverage lawyers in West Virginia
Scott joined the law firm of Bordas & Bordas in 1992 after
working for five years as an insurance defense attorney and
becoming a partner at his previous firm while also gaining
valuable trial experience working as an assistant prosecuting
attorney in Ohio County, West Virginia for two years.
In his career at Bordas & Bordas, Scott has handled hundreds of
cases representing individuals who have suffered catastrophic
injuries and damages including individuals exposed to toxic
chemicals, individuals victimized by medical malpractice,
individuals severely injured or killed in truck and automobile
collisions and individuals victimized by defective products.
Scott regularly handles cases involving insurance bad faith,
insurance agent negligence and insurance coverage issues.
He is frequently called upon to lecture to other lawyers in
these areas of the law. Scott has served as lead trial counsel
in over three dozen jury trials in counties throughout West
Virginia and Ohio.
Scott lives in the Arbordale neighborhood of Wheeling
with his wife, Kathy. The Blasses have two sons and two
grandchildren.
JAMIE BORDAS
Partner
The firm’s managing partner, Jamie Bordas spearheads
Bordas & Bordas’ operations across multiple states and
jurisdictions. An extremely accomplished litigator, Jamie
has concentrated on the negotiation and resolution of the
firm’s most complex and significant cases, including mass
tort settlements of $36,500,000 and $18,500,000 and
single plaintiff settlements reaching over $18,000,000. He
has also handled numerous jury trials when defendants
declined to settle, including a verdict of over $11,500,000
in an insurance bad faith case in Belmont County that was
ultimately affirmed on appeal.
Jamie works on cases involving diverse areas of law,
including insurance bad faith, toxic torts, personal injury,
medical malpractice, oil and gas cases, business litigation
and more. He has frequently been invited to speak to
groups of attorneys on techniques applicable to the
negotiation, mediation and resolution of cases as a result
of his reputation for getting the best possible settlements
for his clients. Jamie has led the firm’s expansion into the
Pittsburgh and the rest of Western Pennsylvania and the
opening of the firm’s Gateway Center offices.
Jamie also hosts a weekly television program called the
Jamie Bordas Show on WTRF 7 in Wheeling. He is married
to the former Stacy Contraguerro, also an attorney at the
firm. They live in Wheeling with their five children.
CHRISTOPHER J. REGAN
Partner
Chris Regan focuses his practice on high-stakes litigation
and jury trials. He has obtained multi-million dollar verdicts
in cases of medical malpractice, nursing home abuse,
workplace injury, deliberate intent, fraud, and wrongful
death. He has also taken a leading role in the firm’s mass
tort practice, handling cases with total recoveries well over
$50,000,000. Chris also focuses on cases involving litigation
misconduct and fraud by defendants and their legal counsel
and has obtained default judgments and awards of monetary
sanctions against misbehaving litigants.
Chris was the firm’s first lawyer licensed to practice in
Pennsylvania and his work has included appellate work in
the highest courts of West Virginia, Ohio and Pennsylvania.
He has successfully handled federal court appeals in the
United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
Chris has frequently spoken at seminars and CLEs about
a variety of legal topics. He has received the West Virginia
Association for Justice’s Member of the Year Award for his
work advocating on behalf of ordinary people victimized by
corporate misconduct in the legal and political arenas.
Chris remains most proud of a case that did not involve a
single dollar, but rather a court order that allowed a leukemia
patient to receive a bone marrow transplant that had been
denied by her insurance carrier. Though previously given
just months to live, the transplant was successful and added
years to his client’s life.
Chris is a graduate of the Notre Dame Law School where
he served on the Law Review and won the moot court
competition. He is the 1993 National Champion in Lincoln-
Douglas debate. Chris lives in Triadelphia, W.Va. with his wife,
Hilary, and their two daughters.

MESOTHELIOMA
AND ASBESTOS
Bordas & Bordas has handled a wide variety
of toxic tort cases, particularly those involving
exposure to cancer-causing asbestos.
Mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer
caused by asbestos exposure. Most people
who are diagnosed with mesothelioma have
worked in occupations where they inhaled
or ingested asbestos fibers such as shipyard
and automotive workers and those employed
in the heating and construction industries.
Oftentimes, workers would unknowingly
bring home asbestos fibers on their work
clothes and, tragically, family members are
also at risk for developing mesothelioma.
Bordas & Bordas has a significant track
record of obtaining favorable results against
companies that exposed their workers and
their families to the hazards of asbestos.
BANK / LENDER
MISCONDUCT
State and federal laws are designed to
protect consumers from the misleading and
fraudulent practices of unscrupulous lenders.
Our lender liability practice is committed to
protecting borrowers from predatory lending
practices by unscrupulous loan officers. At
Bordas & Bordas, we represent the rights
of investors and borrowers throughout
the region. Predatory lending refers to a
wide range of practices. Some are clearly
illegal. Some are legal practices intended
to manipulate or misuse the situation of the
borrower.
