It has been a monumental task to document all the activities of the term and personally I feel that even with all the photos that I have included in this newsletter - I have not been able to do justice to show the dedication, passion, hard work as well as the fellowship in RCKK Pearl. I hope that this has been a pleasant read for you and wishing all the best and looking forward to the new term! Yours in Rotary Azalene Quadra Editor 2022-23
This marks the last quarter of my term as the 8th President of RCKK Pearl with a note of Gratitude & Appreciation. One aspect of Rotary that makes it so unique is the annual change in leadership. It seems like we’ve only just arrived and it’s already time to leave. My term as the 8th President of Rotary Club of Kota Kinabalu Pearl ends on June 30th 2023. I am already feeling that the weight on my shoulder is very much lighter. It has been an amazing year. I am forever grateful for the opportunities afforded to me and the belief placed in my abilities. It has been a wonderful privilege of working alongside some of the most remarkable individuals, whose unwavering commitment and shared vision have been instrumental in propelling our Club to new heights. With the awards received at the District Convention in Phuket. DG Citation- Gold award, Community Service for our WASH Project in Ranau - Gold Award, Vocational & International Service receiving the Bronze Award and also we are one of the clubs that hv donated USD 1500 to Rotary International, Rakan Strategik Terbaik JPNS, the result is nothing short of brilliance, excellence and success! All were made possible due to awesome & great teamwork. Everyone played a pivotal role. Challenges have always been the stepping stone to greatness, propelling individuals & societies forward. And, together we managed to overcome the challenges & obstacles and we emerged stronger and have contributed to the collective growth and success. Be it known that this esteemed club has a rich history of service and has left an indelible mark on its community. LUSTRE 2022-23 | ISSUE 4 President's Message 2
Over the years, our club has undertaken several signature projects that have brought hope and transformation to those in need. Our REAL Project is the Rural Focus English For All initiative. 18 more primary schools were added and another 5 undertaken by RC Tawau. We continued this project with the realization of the importance of English proficiency in empowering individuals and communities. We have provided English language training to countless individuals, opening doors to better education, employment, and opportunities for a brighter future. Another vital project undertaken by the club is the Water Sanitation and Hygiene program. Access to clean water and proper sanitation facilities is a basic human right that unfortunately eludes many. RCKK Pearl has made significant strides in improving water and sanitation conditions in underserved areas, positively impacting the health and wellbeing of countless individuals. So happy that this term we have carried our WASH projects in 8 villages. Additionally, the club's "Hope in Sight" project has touched the lives of the visually impaired. By providing vision screening, eye surgeries, and access to eyeglasses, the Rotary Club of Kota Kinabalu Pearl has given the gift of sight to those who would otherwise have been trapped in a world of darkness. We also participated in the GG Cataract Awareness program. The impact of these projects is immeasurable. They embody the Rotary spirit of service above self and inspire us all to strive for a better world. Let us not forget the power we possess to make a difference. Let us continue to foster international understanding and goodwill, standing together as Rotary clubs to address the pressing issues of our time. Once again, I express my sincere gratitude and appreciation to my dedicated BOD & to all members of our club. Thank you to the Past Presidents, thank you for your guidance and support. Congratulations to In-coming President Rosie Chong and the new Board Members . I wish you all the best in your new role as you embark on another amazing journey. May our bonds of friendship and cooperation continue to grow, and may we collectively work towards a brighter future for all.
