YB DATUK DR YUSOF
BIN YACOB
I am truly honoured to be invited to witness and be part of your
Club’s celebration this year.
Congratulations to Datuk Dr Sharifah Habsah and the Board of Directors
on your installation as the incoming leadership team for the Rotary Club of Kota
Kinabalu Pearl for the term 2019/2020.
RCKK Pearl’s contributions in education in rural schools throughout the years via
the Project REAL initiative,in collaboration with the Sabah Education Department,
was recently shared with me during a courtesy visit to my office in April. I
understand that this is RCKK Pearl’s signature project and my ministry and myself
have given my support to the project. I have seen such a tremendous positive
impact on English literacy in the schools touched by Project REAL as not only were
students’ competencies improved, teachers had also benefitted from the project. I
look forward to the expansion of schools in the Sipitang area as I believe there are
many schools that are suitable candidates for this Project there.
I have also learned that RCKK Pearl is also actively involved in Medical Outreach
Programmes – Love Your Sight and Early Detection Cervical Cancer campaigns –
focused on primary school students and women respectively. I believe that this has
shown this Club’s dedication to its contribution to our community especially in the
suburban and rural areas.
Congratulations to your Past Presidents and their teams for continuously running
successful years and I hope the Club’s presence and commitment will continue to
further benefit our communities.
I wish the 2019/2020 Board and members another successful year.
.
Warm Regards,
YB Datuk Dr Yusof bin Yacob

Dear fellow Rotarian,
I want to congratulate you on your installation to the office of 2019-
2020 club officers.
Club officers all have their own roles to play in ensuring their club’s success,
both this year and in the years to come. You have the opportunity to grow
Rotary — to grow our service, to grow the impact of our projects, and, most
importantly, to grow our membership so that we can achieve more. The
example you set is essential in motivating your fellow Rotarians. Rotarians
like you are the foundation of everything that Rotary seeks to achieve.
Congratulations again on your appointment as 2019-2020 club officers. I
look forward to a year of great accomplishments with your help, as Rotary
Connects the World.
Kindest regards,

DATUK DR . SHARIFAH
HABSAH H . A .
Selamat sejahtera and my warm greetings to all,
For 4 years now, our RCKK Pearl has been serving its own members and
communities above self and this year is truly an inspirational year to me.
Our new theme for 2019-2020, Rotary Connects the World, is close to my heart. I
realized that I have personally been connecting among fellow Rotarians within our
club as well as other clubs locally and internationally through good fellowship, business
networking and social responsibilities.
Gradually, my heart starts to grow fonder than when I had just joined the club. I
am reaching and connecting within myself, and my fellow Rotarians. I now see a
bigger picture and opportunities, be it for my own growth, business growth, and our
communities’ growth.
We welcome our new and young generations to join our Club in order for us to know
their interest and to nurture their potential. The senior members can be their mentors
and give them opportunities in self and career development as well as to ignite their
interest in social responsibilities.
In order for our Club to stay significant and relevant, we need to connect with
our members by getting to know them, their interests, their unique personalities,
background and profession. These qualities make our club culture unique, vibrant and
colourful, so we can learn to respect and appreciate our own uniqueness.
I am looking forward for us to:
- connect within our self, our mind, our soul, and our body
- connect within our family members, our colleagues, and our friends
- connect within our communities
- connect within our club members and all Rotarians locally and internationally
Through Rotary, we connect the world.
My Regards,
Datuk Dr. Sharifah Habsah H.A.

DATUK DR. HAJJAH
TARSIAH TZT TAMAN - PHF
As Salam and warm greetings.
It was indeed an eventful term (July 2018 – June 2019) for RCKK Pearls. Besides
the twice a month club meetings, several other activities were held by the respective
committees.
We sponsored another Interact Club at Seri Insan Borneo School in addition to our current Sekolah
Perempuan Likas Interact Club. The Rotaractors at Kolej Teknikal Yayasan Sabah continues their activities
as planned.
We had also renewed our sister club agreement with the Rotary Club of Meycauayan Jewel, Bulacan,
Manila as well as our friendship pact with the Rotary Club of Taipei. We are pleased to also continue
our relationship with our sister club, Rotary Club of Cebu Gloria Maris, Philippines and formed a new
friendship pact with the the Rotary Club of Taichung Huimin, Taiwan.
Project REAL (Rural-Focus, English for All) has received funds from generous sponsors. A total of 12
primary schools are now having their respective “English Corners”, where at least 600 English story
books are available and supported with audio-visual equipment like computer, TV and LCD projector
as required. Through the State’s Ministry of Education and Innovation, we are expecting more generous
private sponsorships to continue to provide the necessary funds for this project.
This term, another community service project was introduced – Project “Love Your Sight”, where the
target beneficiaries are students in Year 4-6 in selected identified rural schools. Through this project, they
are given free eye/vision screening, and students in need are prescribed and given free eye glasses. The
Ministry of Health and People’s Well-being has already pledged some funds for this project this year.
RCKK Pearls being the only ladies club is also concerned with the healthcare of the women in the state.
With the collaboration among the Ministry of Health & People’s Well-being, Jabatan Hal Ehwal Wanita
(JHEWA) and Lembaga Penduduk dan Pembangunan Keluarga Negara (LKPPN), RCKK Pearls had
successfully held a medical outreach program on HPV-DNA, for early detection of cervical cancer. We
hope this collaboration will continue and subsequently reach the women in rural areas as well.
The camaraderie and cohesiveness among the Pearls have created a group culture that nurtures respect
and understanding, making the slogan “Service Above Self ” being practiced and adhered to without
hesitation. As the President of this term, I am blessed and proud to be given the opportunity to lead the
beautiful Pearls.
Through our dedicated and committed Pearls, RCKK Pearl received several district awards/ citation
for the term 2018/19. A warm appreciation and thank you to all Board of Directors, Charter President
and Past Presidents, and members of RCKK Pearl, the Club Presidents of District 3310, the Assistant
Governors of Group 18 and Group 19, the District Governor and Past District Governors for their kind
support, advice and fellowship.
Pearls, “Be the Inspiration” in our endeavours.
Thank you.
Yours in Rotary,
Datuk Dr Hjh Tarsiah TZ Taman
