Return your I-Rep Polo on September 14th from 4:30- 5:45 p.m. at the
Rigby Hall Lower Lounge. You will be returning your polo and name tag
sleeve and lanyard. Do not wash your polo. Please wear or bring a shirt
to change into. Polos must be returned or there will be a $20 charge. You
will be given your I-Night Polo and instructions at this time.

Dear I-Rep,
We, your council, deeply appreciate your service and your kind hearts as you
help the new students feel welcome here at Brigham Young University- Idaho. We
have thought much about their arrival and realize that there are many fears about
what the future may hold for these new students. But as they take this important
step of faith to come to school to get an education, the Lord wants them to have
faith and peace, not fear. This is why we choose, as a theme for this semester,
“Finding Joy in the Journey” by President Thomas S. Monson.
We want you to share the joy that our kind Heavenly Father has with these new
students and volunteers. President Monson said, “This is our one and only chance
at mortal life—here and now. Opportunities come, and then they are gone. I
believe that among the greatest lessons we are to learn in this short sojourn upon
the earth are lessons that help us distinguish between what is important and what
is not. I plead with you not to let those most important things pass you by as you
plan for that illusive and nonexistent future when you will have time to do all that
you want to do. Instead, find joy in the journey—now.”
This campus is a holy place where we can find joy. We are his hands of love that
reach out to welcome students to this university. Remember whose school this is.

Purpose

Register new students for Get Connected and place them in their I-Team,
as well as provide information and move-in assistance to new students and
parents during Get Connected.

Registration

Students can register after Get Connected starts, but we would prefer that
they register before it begins. If you meet a new student that has not been
registered, it is your responsibility to register them.

Instructions

• If your assignment says mover , please be in your area answering questions
and helping students move-in. Moving areas are assigned on your
assignments sticker.

• If you are assigned to a table, be sure to stay during the entire
registration period.

• Lunch will be delivered to you sometime between 12:00 p.m. and 1:30
p.m.

• Encourage people to audition for the Talent Show!

Purpose

This is an opportunity for new students to hear from our President and begin
to catch the vision of what this University offers to them. After the President
offers his welcome, the new students will go to Academic Connections and the
parents will stay for a Q&A session with President Eyring.

Purpose

Meet Your I-Team is designed to introduce students to their I-Team.They will meet
their I-Team and review the Get Connected schedule.

Instructions

Parent Reception

Purpose

This helps parents understand the environment and opportunities available to their
new students as they adjust to life at the university. This presentation is followed by a
reception where refreshments are served. At this time, there will also be student and
faculty representatives at booths prepared to answer questions that parents have
and to aid them in getting information.

Instructions

• Help with setup and take down.
• Assist Council and IGL’s in serving if needed.

Academic Connections

Purpose

Leaders from each Academic College will be present to answer questions
and give advice concerning academic options available for new students at
BYU-Idaho. New students will have the opportunity to mingle with faculty
members who teach in their college.

Instructions

• Invite new students to attend. Help them find the flag that will lead
them to the correct location.

• If the flags have already left, help new students get to the locations
specific to their major. Walk them to the building if necessary.

understand why these different aspects are important to BYU-Idaho and
how this session can apply to their experience at BYU-Idaho.

Instructions

• Those I-Reps assisting with this event must meet at the Hart Auditorium
at 9:15 a.m. to receive their ushering assignments.

• Report to whoever is in charge to ask how you can help and be trained
in how to use the flags and microphones.

• After the main presentation in the auditorium, I-Reps will help direct

the students to the BYU-I Center Courts where booths are set up
for the different organizations.

Instructions

• Help usher students from the Spirit of BYU-Idaho showcase to the Get
Involved Fair at the BYUI Center Courts.Help with setup/cleanup if you’re
not ushering.

• Answer questions/find people who are confused.
• Encourage them to get involved according to what interests them.
• If assigned, stay after lunch to clean up and then help put up

booths for the Involvement Fair.

You may purchase food items at The Crossroads at the regular prices until
10:00 p.m. You will be given a $1 food coupon.

Instructions

• I-Reps will be helping with one of the shifts. This will be assigned to
you at training.

• After your shift you will return your polo to the Rigby Lower Lounge.
• Before I-Night begins, and all throughout Get Connected, invite

students to attend!
• Inform the new students that they must bring $5 for entry; this gets

them a wristband for entry into the events and a $1 food coupon.
They can also purchase tickets early at the ticketing office.
• As a volunteer you will not have to pay to attend this event.

Registration

1. Greet New Students
2. Write their names on a nametag.
3. Find their complex and apartment number in your I-Rep binder. Write down their
I-Team Group number.
4. Invite them to audition for the Talent Show.

5. Write down their I-Team Mentors’ phone numbers.
6. Give them their wristband and schedule. Put the wristband on them. Explain that
the wristband gets them into the Talent Show that night and lunch the next day.
7. Put a colored sticker on their nametag according to what college they are in.

Clicker/

As a greeter, your job is to be welcoming and excited. Encourage students to share in
your enthusiasim. Make sure they are registered for GC. Invite them to live the Honor
Code by removing hats and observing the other dress and grooming standards.
If you are a clicker, only click for the new students, not for the volunteers or parents.
Return clickers and report numbers to Spencer or Elizabeth.

Roamers

Move around and find new students that look lost. Answer questions, help them
register to be a part of GC activites, help them move in and be a friend!

Hype Squad

Your job is to get all the new students excited by being enthusiastic! Dance around and
give students high fives. Get them pumped to be at the event!

Food

Help set up tables and pack lunches to set out during the New Student Lunch. Make
sure the students have a wristband.

Flag Bearers

For Academic Connections: Hold flag and lead groups of students to appropriate
locations.
For Living and Learning: Raise flag when a new student in your section has a

new student.
