Introduction

According to production costs of typical cement plant published in Independent
Cement Producers Association, London 2006, Refractory is the lowest cost in cement
manufacturing with approximately one or two percent of total cost. While, labor and fuel is the
highest cost in cement production with represents about 27% and 25% of total cost. These costs
play a vital role in cement production as it is not only protecting the kiln shell but also serve to
minimize heat loss. In previous time, many refractory manufacturers proposed many ways to
increase insulating level of refractory lining such as apply insulating material or low thermal
conductivity refractory lining between refractory lining and kiln shell, multi-layer refractory brick
or high porous refractory lining. However, those methods lead to complicated work, required
skill-worker for installation and also shorter service life of refractory lining.

Nowadays, Siam Refractory succeeded to propose new series of energy saving
refractory brick for cement industry with lower thermal conductivity and still provide good
properties. MAGTHERM F1 is one of these key developments as optimization concept was
applied without compromising on quality and performance.

➢ About TCMA

Thai Cement Manufacturers Association (TCMA) is cement manufacturer-led, Thai leading
cement manufacturers coalition advocating for cement industry being basic infrastructure of
the country development, becoming environmentally friendly industry, committing to social
responsibilities engagement and leading towards sustainable development.
TCMA registered with Ministry of Commerce, Thailand on May 8, 2006. Its mission is to be a
coordinating office of Thai cement manufacturers and providing a platform for companies to
share experiences and best practices on cement issues i.e. mining-natural resources, technical,
product standard, occupational-health-safety, environment, etc. and advocate for their
implementation, working with government agencies as well as non-government organizations at
national and international levels. TCMA is a member of ASEAN Federation of Cement
Manufacturers (AFCM) and benefits from partner organizations in the country and region.
TCMA also support works of Thailand Fellowship of Cement Manufacturers (TFCM), one of
industry clubs of the Federation of Thai Industries (F.T.I), which was established since 1977.
