Ternak kesayangan merupakan suatu upaya pemeliharaan dan
pengembangbiakkan hewan kesayangan baik untuk dipelihara

sendiri maupun penyiapan untuk kelak diadopsi oleh orang-
orang yang tertarik untuk memelihara
hewan kesayangan tersebut.

Kelinci Hamster Burung Burung

Kelinci

Kelinci termasuk kelompok hewan herbivora
dan binatang malam.

Beberapa karakter unik pada kelinci antara
lain suka mengerat dan menggali,
berkomunikasi melalui pandangan,
pendengaran, dan penglihatan.

Hamster

Ciri-ciri dari hamster adalah memiliki badan
yang gemuk, berekor pendek, bagian bawah
hamster berwarna putih sampai abu-abu
dan hitam, berbulu tebal dengan warna
bulu yang beragam tergantung dari spesies
hamster tersebut.

Burung Merpati

Burung merpati adalah hewan yang
hidup dengan membuat sarang di
berbagai tempat, seperti ranting
pepohonan, celah gunung karang

atap bangunan atau rumah
penduduk.

Contoh kandang kelinci yang baik dan sehat
dengan tinggi 1,8 meter, lebar 0,9 meter, dan
panjang 2,4 meter.

Pemeliharaan hewan ternak

KELINCI

a. Pemilihan bibit
1) Tipe kepala sesuai dengan ukuran badan.
2) Berkaki normal, kuat, kukuh, berkuku pendek

dan tidak bengkok.
3) Berbadan bulat, berdada lebar dan padat.
4) Kulit licin, tidak ada benjolan, bulu bersih,

halus, dan mengilat.
5) Berekor lurus, kecil dan tumbuh lurus ke atas.

Jenis Pakan

1) Hijauan misalnya rumput, limbah kangkung,
sawi, daun turi, daun lamtoro, daun kacang
tanah, batang jagung, daun ubi jalar dan
daun talas.

2) Hay merupakan rumput awetan yang
dipotong menjelang berbunga.

3) Biji-bijian.

4) Umbi-umbian.

5) Konsentrat misalnya pelet, bekatul,
bungkil kelapa, bungkil kacang tanah,
ampas tahu dan ampas tapioka atau
gaplek.

Perkembangbiakan

1. Masa kehamilan berlangsung 28–35 hari.
2. Adapun lama induk mengasuh anak selama 31 hari.
3. Dengan demikian dalam 1 tahun kelinci dapat melahirkan
anak empat kali.
4. Anak kelinci yang telah disapih dipindahkan ke kandang
pembesaran.
