THE ROLE OF
OUR TEACHERS

CHILDCARE TEACHERS

Our childcare teachers work with children from ages
18 months to six years to shape well-rounded
individuals and inculcate in them a joy for learning.

DUTIES
Achieve developmental milestones and academic goals
for your classes.

Partner with Mother Tongue (Chinese) teacher to deliver
bilingual curriculum and provide holistic care, which
includes facilitating meal times, toileting and showering.

Engage with families and caregivers to keep them up to
date on the children’s progress, achievements and needs.

INFANT CARE TEACHERS

Our Infant Care Teachers work with young children between
the ages of two months to 18 months.At this age,
relationships form the primary context for learning and
growth, and they develop emotional security and basic
cognitive development through strong and secure relationships.

DUTIES
Nurture through daily interactions and routines to
meet the physical, cognitive and psychosocial needs
of our infants and toddlers.

Routines include feeding, toileting
and showering.

Provide a safe and secure environment for children
to explore their world and express themselves.

Work with other teachers to develop individualised activities to facilitate the children’s
learning of sensory, motor and self-help skills to prepare them for pre-school and beyond.

ZOE’S STORY

From flying the friendly skies to becoming an early childhood professional, Zoe Chan found
her calling when she joined NFC.Today, she is pursuing her degree in Bachelor of Education

in Early Childhood from Monash University.

Q What motivated you to make the switch despite a pay cut?
The fond experience of interacting with children during my tertiary internship with a sports company
A made me realise this is my passion. I made the switch believing that each child is different and a joyful
early learning experience is important to the holistic development and well-being of the child.

Q What have you gained over the years?
A Valuable insight of the importance of early childhood education and the role of an educator,

which will influence and leave an indelible imprint across the lifespan of children.

Q What is the most rewarding aspect of being a pre-school teacher?
A Watching the growth of the children under your care is the most rewarding experience

that only an educator will understand.

the diversity of growth in young children is ever

ASSISTANT TEACHER (FULL-TIME)

You will be part of our centre team to support the principal and teachers in activities across all student age
groups from 18 months to six years old.This role will provide you an opportunity to be immersed in our
supportive pre-school environment and have a better knowledge of the scope of a pre-school educator

within our family.This will be a great way to make an informed career choice and take the next step with us
later to be an early childhood educator or possibly an area of specialisation you would like to embark on.

Our assistant teachers are invaluable members of our pre-school teams.They provide operational and
administrative support that is essential to the delivery of the curriculum and daily programme.You will assist
with the preparation of teaching resources, upkeep of the learning environment and work with the teachers

to facilitate activities and routine care.

REQUIREMENTS
• Minimum Secondary 2 education
• Those with Early Childhood Education such as Fundamentals certificate will have added advantage

RELIEF TEACHER (HOURLY-RATED)

As relief teachers provide support to our centres on a needs-basis, they do not require relevant early
childhood qualification. Duties are assigned by the respective centre and may vary depending on the centre’s
needs.Typical duties involve assisting the permanent teaching staff during lessons and with routine care. Relief
teachers may also be assigned teaching duties, if they have the requisite certifications and experience. Relief

teaching assignments may range from 4-hours to one month.

REQUIREMENTS
• Candidates who have completed the WSQ Relief Staff Programme will have an advantage

• Able to take up short-term assignments on short notice
• Flexible to travel
