Early Years Welcome to our Early Years, a
programme designed for a time
Nursery (3-4 yrs), Reception (4-5 yrs) where the bridge between
home and school is just being
formed, and where a careful
balance of support, structure
and nurture can make all the
difference.

Our Nursery and Reception (Pre-K) students
thrive in a bustling, colourful space, with direct
access to fresh air, physical play and outdoor
learning. A carefully balanced timetable of
play-based, and child-initiated activities is
underpinned by a robust and inspiring
curriculum. Weekly swimming at our onsite
pool combined with specialist in class
teaching of Languages, Sports, Art, Drama and

EarlyMusic provide a lifelong foundation for

learning.

Lower School Welcome to our Lower School
where young minds develop and
Year 1 (5 - 6 yrs), Year 2 (6 - 7 yrs), Year 3 (7 - 8 yrs), Year 4 (8 - 9 yrs) grow, challenged and
stimulated every day as they
explore and discover more and
more about the world around
them.

In these early years, children’s personal, social and
emotional development underpins all aspects of
curriculum planning. Throughout the Lower School,
children are immersed in a variety play-based, and
practical learning experiences to bring their
learning to life.

Literacy and numeracy skills are consolidated daily.
Specialist subjects are also incorporated in the
weekly timetable in Science, Sports., Drama, Art
Languages, and Music. These subjects allow the
students to develop breadth and depth from the
very earliest age, to explore new areas of skill and
interest every day.

Middle School Our Middle School students
are at a crucial period of
Year 5 (9 - 10 yrs), Year 6 (10 -11 yrs), Year 7 (11 - 12 yrs), Year 8 (12 -13 yrs), Year 9 (13 -14 yrs) personal, social, physical and
intellectual development.

Our programme successfully blends the
creativity and inquiry based approach of the
International Baccalaureate (I.B.) with the depth
and rigor of the English National Curriculum.
This is complimented by elective subjects which
collectively aim to develop skills through
experiential learning and doing, keeping
students engaged, challenged and supported.

Students explore this curriculum through a
global lens, engaging with how these subjects
manifest themselves in the real world, enabling
them to make meaningful connections, whilst
developing critical and reflective thinking skills
in the process.

Upper School Welcome to our Upper School,
where young minds develop and
Year 10 (14 - 15 yrs), Year 11 (15 -16 yrs), Year 12 (16 - 17 yrs), Year 13 (17 -18 yrs) grow, challenged and stimulated
every day as they explore and
discover more and more about
the world around them.

BIS-NY Upper School offers a robust and
international respected Cambridge International
Examinations, culminating in the IGCSE (16 yrs)
and A Level (18 yrs) examinations.

Taken in over 160 countries worldwide, these
courses are recognised globally and highly
regarded by leading universities in the USA, UK and
internationally. Successful completion of A Levels
can even qualify students for up to one year’s credit
at some of America’s leading institutions.

Guidance and counselling system is an equally
important piece of supporting our students and
preparing them for further education and their next
steps, wherever and whatever it might be.

Staff & Faculty At BIS-NY we know that it's our
highly qualified, passionate and
Faculty - Teaching & Subjects - EAL - Learning Support- Pastoral Care specialist teachers whose
breadth and expertise bring
their subjects to life and make
all the difference.

At just under 300 students, BIS-NY is small by
design, allowing each student to have the
opportunity to build relationships with teacher, all
of whom share a common goal; to ensure their
happiness and success across the curriculum.

Throughout their journey, BIS-NY students are
stretched and supported by their specialist
teachers, Divisional Heads and the Senior
Leadership Team. Alongside teaching staff our full
time Nurse, Learning Support Team, English as an
Additional Language team and School Counselor
add another dimension of support where needed.
