5 stages of grief

Untitled presentation

5 stages of greif

Denial

when the pain and grief of losing someone is too hard and denying the fact that you did lose someone and think it would help the
pain. Ponyboy did this when Johnny died in The Outsiders he kept saying that Johnny wasnt dead but he was and it was too hard for
him to accept it .

anger

Anger can be a big part of how you handle the loss and can result in you taking it out on someone, else breaking things and even
saying things you don't mean. Ponyboy wasn’t very angry but did smash a bottle and was mad at the socs.

Bargaining

Bargaining is when you say that you would do anything for someone like a loss of a loved one to not happen. Say or do anything just
for them to not get hurt or for you not to feel the pain of losing someone. Pony Does this when he tries to stop saying if John Dies he
thinks Johnny is going to die and he can't stop saying or thinking it.

depression

Depression when you can be sad and you have so many feelings that are overwhelming you, this can result and tiredness having no
motivation, self-harming. there's no shame in asking for help pony went through this which resulted in not eating, grades dropping and
he says he starts to lose things.

Acceptance

This is the last phase, it is when you finally come to terms with what happened and you tried to deal with them. This can be really hard
but once you accept you can finally move on and try to be happy again Ponyboy accepted Johnny's death by writing the novel for an
English project

Author note
