Standard Three

Whenever I visited my Grandfather, he would let me help him in his garden.
Grandad said I had a green thumb so he made a space in his garden just for me.
He showed me how to use the garden tools and he let me choose seeds to plant.
Having a garden is tedious work. Weeds need to be pulled up, the dirt made
smooth, we also have to keep plants watered and watch out for insects.

Tomatoes and cucumbers are scrumptious so I wanted to plant those. My
Grandad preferred cauliflower so he set those. Together we planted four rows of
squash and two rows of lettuce. He also planted potatoes and dasheen. At first
the plants were so scrawny I could hardly see them, then they sprouted up like
weeds. All the hard work was worth it.
