K GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS

E 1. Competition is open to all North Carolina youth residents under the age of 19 as of August 31, 2019. Entries are limited to the first
75 exhibitors with completed forms turned in to the fair entry department office. *
T 2. Each exhibitor is required to show a Pen of 3, but all 5 birds are to be brought back on check-in day. If the exhibitor loses birds

he/she is to bring back what they have left whether it’s 1 or 2. If the exhibitor doesn’t show any birds, the fair must be notified as

B to why the no-show. This could affect the exhibitor from being able to show in future shows. Only the chickens shown in
the Youth Market Broiler Show will be available for sale/sponsor premiums.
R 3. Exhibitor must have raised the chickens from chicks and from the same hatch as all other exhibitors. Fair will set up arrangements

O with a supplier to ensure same hatch is provided to registered exhibitors.

I 4. Any use of antibiotic, steroid, and/or growth hormone drugs are strictly prohibited. Exhibitors will be banned from show.
5. This show is an end show. Exhibitors are not allowed to take chickens home.
L 6. General Rules and Regulations, Judging, and Health Regulations for poultry show will apply. (www.wncagcenter.org)

E 7. Class breaks will be determined by exhibitor age according to the overall participation response. Fair will try to limit these classes

R to 10 exhibitors per class.

8. On judging day all exhibitors must check-in and have their broilers weighed. Once they are weighed each exhibitor will be

assigned a cage for their pen of 3 to be placed in. It’s the exhibitor’s responsibilty to maintain the cleaniness of the cages until

judging time. During judging NO exhibitor is allow to talk to the judge. Exhibitors may watch but must save all questions until

S all judging is done. Interfering with judging will be grounds for disqualification.
9. FFA and 4-H groups are encouraged to participate but will need individual names on entry forms and their club’s name listed.
H If the premiums are to be sent back to the FFA or 4-H group please use the group’s address and tax ID. To participate in FFA and

O 4-H awards all members need to fill in the club/school name with the corresponding tax ID # on entry form at the time of

W submission. At least 5 club members must participate in order to be eligible for club awards. A club member cannot be counted

twice, must choose whether to be an individual or part of a club.

* In the event that more than 75 entry forms are submitted prior to the deadline, groups may be asked to limit the number of entries
within their club in order to fairly distribute the birds.

JUDGING
Judging criteria: Judging will be based on Weight, Conformation, Fleshing, Finish and General Appearance - Trio Pairing.

*Stalls will be provided at no charge. The stalls are 10’ X 10’ stationary with three sides 8’ high. The front has a wire

mesh panel. The floor is red clay or concrete. Initial bedding is provided by the Fair. Additional bedding and feed is the
responsibility of the owner. NO HANGING OF CAGES ON WALLS DOWN CENTER OF BARNS.
