Who is Dr. Sergio?
When trying to answer the question of who or what
Colibrí is, it’s important to go right to the source—to
the man whose essence is Colibrí.That man is named
Sergio Barrera.
Before he had dedicated his life to the chiropractic
process, Sergio was a builder in southern California.
While that context is important, it’s also important
to understand the wide diversity of interests and
passions that Sergio brings to his work. Sergio’s world
view—his dedication to people, and to their health—
that is Colibrí.
The word Colibrí itself means hummingbird, and the
motif is central to the story of Sergio and his practice.
The hummingbird is a symbol of transformation;
which is at the core of everything that Colibrí—and
Sergio—does.

is a creature that
represents the
spirits’ journey
from the physical
world to the next.

The hummingbird was also the beginning of Dr.
Sergio’s journey toward working as a chiropractor.
A hummingbird visited his mother-in-law right before
she died. Soon, Sergio was making a life change.

The primary mark should be used in all
applications where sufficient room exists to
read the type within the mark itself. If there
is insufficient room for the primary mark, the
secondary mark should be used.

Clear space is the empty area surrounding a
logomark.
When placing the primary Colibrí logo it is
important to give the mark enough room;
specifically because the beak leaves the
central frame.The beak should never make
contact with another piece of content.
Clear space for the primary logomark is the
distance between the edge of the frame, and
the end of the beak x2.

This type is presented in 8pt. For web applications, the
type size should be bumped up to between 12pt and 14pt.

Primary Color Logomark
The primary color and texture within Typography
the Colibrí brand is a nod to Sergio’s
background as a builder. Rather than Color
have a specific color, the logo mark relies Image
instead upon the material that it is printed
upon.

For this reason, care should be taken to
print the logo, letterhead, and all other
externally facing documents on a material
with some tactile quality.

For books, brochures, stationary, business
cards, and affirmation cards a cream paper
should be used.

For structural items such as furniture, use
the wood, metal, or stone itself.

The fundamentals of the Colibrí brand are structural and
material based. It is rustic, grounded, referential to the
styling of mixed martial arts, while staying firmly planted
within the community driven world of healing that is Dr.
Sergio’s passion.

The intimacy of the Colibrí hummingbird blends with
Dr. Sergio’s background as a builder and his love for
fitness and martial arts to create a visual system that is as
personal and approachable as he is.
