of the site
The B5 Johor Street Market, which is set up based on an art
market concept, is targeted to be the latest attraction for
tourists in Johor. It serves as a one-stop Tourism Commercial
Centre within the vicinity, which comprises five key elements:
Retail Bazaar
Dining
Box Park
Culture and Arts Performance
Food truck
The design and development of the B5 Johor Street Market were
inspired by the surrounding environment and old heritage of
Johor criteria.

A Brief About The Site
B5 Johor Street Market is inspired by the upcoming Queen
Victoria Market an iconic location for domestic and
foreign tourists. Design and atmosphere the whole is
based on the heritage features and beauty of Johor that
will takes you back to Old Johor.
Batu 5 street market has become the new attraction in
Johor Bahru because of the newly-developed
commercial tourism centre that will focusing on
attracting local tourist.

Aim + Objectives
The street market is aiming to be a centralised retail tourism centre where
tourists could find everything Johor under one roof. There are retail bazaars
comprising of permanent and periodic tenants, food and beverages dishing
out popular Malaysian food with a main highlight on Johor cuisine, food
trucks to entice different spheres of food lovers, Box Park, and a centre stage
to promote arts and culture through performances to busking and
handicrafts for souvenirs.

Current B5 that embrace the
local history of Batu Lima Batu Lima used to be a focal point and a busy business
district for locals back then. This place was very active
before a fire ravaged the area in the 1990s.
Ever since the tragedy, Batu Lima was left with only few
stalls operating including the famous cinema at Batu Lima.
The place operates everyday without the same way as it
used to be.

Johor Bahru On 2020, B5 Street Market starts to operate with 5 main segments in
the project which are; F&B, Food Truck, Box Park, Retail Bazaar, and
Arts and Culture.
These elements can help to restore the old Batu Lima and brings
back memories to the old folks in modern ways. This place is where
various Arts and Culture gets a chance to promote their activities
here daily throughout the year.
Despite of bringing back the activities, the interior design are also
using the Johor element such as public bus in JB, history information
of Batu Lima, etc that suitable for tourist to learn and understand
about Johor identity back to 1990s till now.

development cost of RM90 million.

Abu Kassim said, the expectations of the visitors are in line
with the state government's target of 17.4 million tourists to
Johor through the Visit Johor 2020 (TMJ2020) and Visit
Malaysia 2020 (VMY2020) promotions.
Conclusion
B5 Street Market is the first retail tourism center in the state in
Johor Bahru, Johor which is open to the public, has become a
new tourist attraction in line with the Visit Johor 2020 Year.
The overall design and ambience is based on the
characteristics of Johor’s heritage and charm that will bring
back the old Johor nostalgia. The heritage concept could be
seen as part of the interior and there are several nostalgia-
invoking designs that visitors could catch as they stroll through
the roofed part of the mall.
In conclusion, the site is located in the heart of the city center,
the location not only provides business space, arts and cultural
activities but also highlights the heritage features and
attractions of the community in the state.
