Interview's Questions May you introduce yourself and what business you are working on currently? What are the factors that bring you to run this business, and who is your role model in the business field? Can you elaborate more? Can you share your achievement as an entrepreneur and what has brought success in your business? Please share more with us. What are the factors that bring you to run this business, and who is your role model in the business field? Can you elaborate more? At first, Nathalie designs handicraft as a hobby. She also will wear the handicraft that she created but when everyone starts asking her about her handicraft, she get an idea to conduct a business for her handicraft since she got a high demand from her friends. 1) HOBBY FACTORS LEADING TO ENTREPRENEURSHIP 2) FAMILY SUPPORT Her dad mostly gives the idea of handicrafts because her father is a creative person. Other than that, her late grandmother also teaches her how to make the handicraft which makes her role model are her family members. 3) INTRODUCE BIDAYUH CULTURE Her goal is to make everyone know about Bidayuh culture when she introduces Bidayuh handicraft business. She wants to grant her late grandmother's wish to maintain the Bidayuh culture without being forgotten by the new generation when she sells the Bidayuh handicraft. 2


MEASURE OF ENTERPRISE Can you share your achievement as an entrepreneur? This year (2022), Natalie was invited to a television broadcast and was also invited to a radio broadcast twice to share her experience in entrepreneurship as she promotes Bidayuh cultures through handicraft. Although the COVID-19 pandemic has seriously impacted Malaysia and the economy has drastically decreased, Natalie did not give up on her dream to introduce Bidayuh culture to the world and took a risk. As a result, she gains a consistent sale even while under a movement control order (MCO). 3 Invitation from the media Stable sales income


What are the factors that bring you to run this business, and who is your role model in the business field? Can you elaborate more? SUCCESS FACTORS Nathalie's parent actively encourages her to do business by helping her make, purchasing the items and promoting the products. Family Encouragement Handcraft gets noticed by people when she wears her product; Word-of-Mouth marketing is a platform for the customers to introduce her products to others. Consistency in Promotion Nathalie reached this level of success because the other entrepreneur inspired her to be an independent entrepreneur with; a side income as a student. Role Model Inspiration 4


1) Profits Nathalie started to gain the profits from business of handicrafts. During the Movement Control Order (MCO), the demand of the handicraft increased from customers as a student. 2) Experiences By running the business, Nathalie get a lot of experiences which communicate with customers and talked to the media authorities. It's improved her social skills for promoting as well. 3) Goals Achieved Nathalie achieved her goal which to promote her own Bidayuh culture through selling the handicraft beads collections. She started to love with the Bidayuh Handicraft from her grandmother and learned from her. 1) Limited Customers Due to the limit of workers, she took order from customer with limits and negotiate with the requirements or custom made products from them. Obstacles There are customers who want a quick order and the custom-made products are not promised to be completed as soon as possible because the products are made according to the taste of each customer and the amount of customers ordered. The price she sells is expensive when compared to her competitors because her products are made with quality and take time to complete in which her products deserve to be sold at an expensive price. She does not have an existing product where customers can choose and buy when they have chosen the product because the product varies according to the customer's ideas and tastes. Therefore, the products she produces are called custom-made products. According to her, this happened in 2021 where her competitors imitated her products and this is what is affecting the number of customers who want to buy her products and subsequently affecting her sales. Handling customers who wants urgent order. Competition in terms of price. Competition in terms of availability. Facing competitors who imitate her products. Strategies Nathalie does not take orders or reject orders from customers who want urgent orders. In addition, she also limits the order such that a customer can only order as much as she has set. Handling customers who wants urgent order. She still sets the same price because she believes and is confident that the products she makes are of high quality and there are still customers who want her products. Competition in terms of price. Even though she does not have a readystock of products, the production of varied products according to the ideas and tastes of her customer will become her trademark to remain known in the market. Competition in terms of availability. According to her, she is in the process of approving her product from the Intellectual Property Office to maintain the originality of her custom-made products and to overcome imitation problems.
