Creating a tile to share
From the home screen, click on the +
Ensure that “tile” is selected at the top. Or you can also select “folder” to create a
folder to store multiple tiles in. This may be for a variety of links to use for a
project, lesson or homework.
Now enter the following
information:
Name of the tile
Website address (URL)
You do not need to enter a tip,
info or tags.
Finally, change the colour of the
tile at the bottom of the window to
make it easier to locate.
Click the + to add the tile.
Sharing the tile
From the home screen, click on the grey button that resembles an
outline of a person.
Now click on the drop
down arrow.
To share with a class,
click on all classes,
then select the class.
You can select multiple
classes to share with,
however you have to
add them one at a
time.
It should now look like this.
If you want to share with multiple classes, now
is the time to repeat the above steps.
Here you can also stop sharing the tile by
clicking the “X” next to the name of the
people/group that it is being shared with.
Click on the X in the top corner to close the Share window.
The grey outline of a person on the tile should now have gone
green to show it has been shared.
Sharing files from My Files
From the home screen, click on the My Files tile.
Next, find the file you would like to share and select the tick box
next to it.
Right click on the file and select “Share...”.
Similar to sharing a tile, now
click on the drop down menu
and select who you would like to
share the file with. Then click
the X in the cornier of the
window.
The file will then appear in the
persons “Shared Files” folder.
Uploading files to My Drive
This could be to allow a child to share a Microsoft Office file (Ms Word, PowerPoint,
Publisher etc…) with you., or simply to allow you to share a file with children for
homework.
Open the My Files tile.
Open your My Documents and locate the file you want to upload.
Have My Documents open on one side of the screen and your My Files open behind
it (see picture above).
Now, from your My Documents click and drag the file across to My Files and drop it
into the “Drop files here” white box on the left.
The file should now automatically upload to My Files.
Logging children in for the
first time
The first time that children log on, they will be presented with the following
welcome message informing them that they need to start the set up of their
account.
They simply need to click
“ok”.
This will then open a new window where their account will be set up for them and
after a few moments they will be presented with the following confirmation
message.
Once you get the “Your
OneDrive is ready”
message at the bottom of
the screen, you need to
just close the window.
Your account is now set
up and ready to use.
