Siouxland CARES
About Substance Abuse. This is a role I
stepped into following many years of involve-
ment
with the organization. One of the best parts
about my job is that I get to work with our
many wonderful community partners and in-
credible youth leaders!

PERSONALLY: I am originally from the
Siouxland area (grew up in SSC). Attended col-
lege at the
University of Nebraska - Lincoln (Go Big Red!).
Following college, I moved back to the area
with the hopes of making a difference in this
community. Through my involvement, I met
my wonderful husband, Bryce. Together, we
have a mini poodle named Emilia.

FUN FACT: My husband and I are avid road trippers. We have explored the North, Northeast, Southeast,
South, Southwest regions of the United States by vehicle. We love to experience the many quaint, small
business towns our nation has to offer - Stowe, VT; Ogunquit, ME; Provincetown, MA; Asheville, NC; Ga-
lena, IL â€" we’re looking at you!

BUCKET LIST: A road trip to the Northwest United States!

MEMORIES: I love helping with the Small Business EXPO! Too often, small businesses are overlooked
because of their size and lack of resources. I love that the EXPO gives them a chance to
stand out from the crowd and, similarly, reminds the community that these businesses are
an important part of our economy.

almost three years now with my husband and

FUN FACT: In 8th grade I was voted Most Musically Talented. Although I feel like my musical talent has
faded my love of live music and performance has not.

would see that I have career ADHD. Everything
looks fun and so I change my mind alot! I love
to learn new things and all of my jobs have
been rewarding. A few things in common in all
my work are educating and helping others and
make a positive impact.

PERSONALLY: I call Minnesota my home, but I
have been in Iowa (Ottumwa & Sioux City) since
1996, which is longer than I lived in MN! I met
my husband at Bill's Bar and he is my best
friend. We have two wonderful kids. As I turn
50 (!), it is fun to think about our future.

ton, MA area for 20 years. A development posi-

position at Heartland Counseling in 2019. Prior
to moving, I was Executive Director of an art,
music & theatre school for 12 years.

PERSONALLY: My main motive for moving back
to Akron, IA was to raise my 3 children, now
ages 12, 8 & 5, in a small community. My hus-
band, a fine artist and graphic designer, was
born in Boston but is adjusting to the midwest
as well. In addition to spending time with my
family, I also enjoy being part of our church
and the community.

from the Univ. of Missouri-Columbia with de-
grees in Broadcast Journalism and French. She
started her broadcasting career at KMEG 14 in
Sioux City, worked at KMTV in Omaha, and re-
turned to Sioux City as KTIV's morning anchor.
After 12 years in the TV biz, she left to be the
Advancement Director at Camp High Hopes.

PERSONALLY: Sarah is originally from Lake-
wood, CO. Her first job brought her to
Siouxland where she met her husband, Travis.
They have lived in the Dunes for most of the
past 15 years with daughter, Cate, son, Cam-
eron, and fur baby, Mugsy. Sarah enjoys travel-
ing, reading, working out, and cooking for her
kids who refuse to eat anything she makes for
them.

FUN FACT: Sarah used to be fluent in French. She studied abroad in Senegal, West Africa, a French -
speaking country. During her six months there, Sarah lived with a family in Dakar, spent two weeks living
in a mud hut in 125 degree heat, hiked through the rainforest during the dry season, traveled by donkey
carts, and ate many interesting foods.
BUCKET LIST: Sarah has a love of travel and adventure, so exploring other countries is always on her
bucket list. Some of the places Sarah would love to visit include China, Norway, Alaska, Tanzania, Kenya,
India, and Hawaii. Sarah is scuba certified (even though she'

City Curling Classic I dislocated my shoulder on my first throw after slipping on the ice. I found out that I
was pregnant with our daughter when I went to the hospital to have my arm put back in and they asked
if I was pregnant before my x-rays :)

ball team when she was 14 and we traveled to Ireland. My father had recently passed, so I took the trip
with my mother and had a great time and have lots of cherished memo
