Kopivosian and Greetings from JCI Intan,
I am pleased to announce that we have
reached the end of the second quarter of
the year. This means that we are halfway
through our journey towards achieving our
goals for the year. It has been a busy
months for everyone as most activities and
events no longer done virtually but
physically.
This has been an exciting month for
everyone because there were many
activities and movements happening in our
organization. I’m also happy to see that
many members are still actively
participating in JCI activities and
movements.
At this point, I would like to take this
opportunity to thank all my BOD members
who work very hard for our LO. I can see
that some of my members has moved out
from their comfort zone and Elevated
themselves to unleash their true potential.
Looking forward for more members to take
up challenge to organize more meaning
projects!
Looking forward for our upcoming flagship
projects in the next quarter, so stay tune.
Meanwhile, please do enjoy reading our

JCI Intan is a non-governmental
organisation based in Kota Kinabalu,
Sabah, Malaysia. We were founded
in 1975, and we have been an active
member of JCI Malaysia since then.

Our mission is to provide
development opportunities that
empower young people to create
positive change in their
communities, businesses, and
around the world. We are dedicated
to developing our members as
leaders who give back to their
communities through volunteerism,
leadership training, and social
responsibility activities.

Our organization believes in four
pillars: personal development,
business growth, community service
and international engagement. Our
members are encouraged to
participate in a variety of activities
that help them grow personally and
professionally while also making a
positive impact on their community
and beyond.

HEALTHY SUNDAY GMM

On the 3rd April 2022, JCI Tanjung Aru, JCI Intan and JCI Kota
Kinabalu hosted an amazing Healthy GMM event at Nutribah,
Penampang. The event was focused on living healthy through diet
and exercise. 56 participants participated in the event. Among the
activities that were conducted were functional training, fitness
challenge and dinner party.

CORPORATE VISIT TO

ELIANWARE, PENANG

On April 3rd, our brotherhood
chapter JCI Butterworth City
organized a corporate visit to
Elianware, Penang. It was
supported by JCI Intan along
with other LO.
Datuk Teoh Han Chuan spoke
about his success story as an
entrepreneur. He shared how he
started from scratch and built his
company up over time. He also
gave advice on how to succeed in
business as well as some tips on
how to deal with failure and gave
us tips on how we can achieve
success in life.
Datuk Teoh's story teaches us
that nothing is impossible if you
believe in yourself and work hard
for it.

INTAN BALIK KAMPUNG GMM

JCI Intan organized their 2nd GMM that was held at Tivoli Cafe, Hotel
Shangri-la Downtown Kota Kinabalu. The OC for this GMM is Anasha
Binti Mosilin. The GMM was a buka puasa session cum advance
celebration for Mother's Day. All of them enjoyed the chit chat while
having their buka puasa. Everyone also played lucky draw game and
got a gift that prepared by each member who attended the GMM.
This event was attended by 5 Past Presidents and 2 members.

WELCOMING FOR

ARGENIS ANGULO

Kota Kinabalu, 14 April 2022 - Junior Chamber
International (JCI) Malaysia Area Sabah warmly
welcomed 2022 JCI President JCI Senator
Argenis Angulo, who landed at Kota Kinabalu,
Sabah as the first leg of his official visitation to
Malaysia. This is the first time a JCI World
President has visited Sabah since year 2013. He
is accompanied by his 2022 JCI Chief Executive
Assistant, JCI Senator Kaveen Kumar; 2022 JCI
Malaysia President JCI Senator Ellen Lu, and
her National Board of Directors.
Following the Welcoming Luncheon at Luma
Hotel with the Local Presidents and Area Sabah
Committee, JCI Senator Argenis had a
President Dialogue at Luma Hotel with the
representatives from Business Network
International (BNI) and Sabah North &
Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce -
Young Entrepreneurs Committee (MCCC-YEC)
Sabah Branch. At night, the delegation headed
to Hakka Hall for the Welcoming & Induction
Dinner with JCIM Area Sabah members.

Public speaking is an essential soft skill
that can help you land a new job or
promotion. This workshop teaches you
how to create a speech, deliver it, and
interact with your audience. You learn
how to work with nerves, how to
develop your voice into an impactful
tool, and how to tailor your message for
your audience.
The workshop conducted by 2020 JCI
Intan President Mdm Jean Ivy Denis on
8th May 2022 (Sunday) via Zoom
Meeting.
During the workshop, there are 5
participants from JCI Members and 10
participants from Non-JCI members.

LEADING WITH A

COACHING MINDSET

In conjunction with the International Coaching Federation (ICF) during the
International Coaching Week, JCI Intan along with three other LO
collaborate with JCI Entrepreneur Metropolitan organized a session that
talking about reimagine the future, entitled: Leading with Coaching
Mindset. It was held on 19th May 2022.
This program highlighted about :

Awareness of the 3 core mental muscles.
Building mental fitness as a strong foundation for a coaching mindset.
The Positive Intelligence approach to effective coaching.
Leading effectively through relationships of trust and respect.
Leaders and leaders to be, come join us in this session to lead your
team with a coaching mindset together!

AREA SABAH
CONVENTION

Finally, a physical JCIM Area Sabah
Convention was held at the Promenade
Hotel, Kota Kinabalu. This year's theme is
"Agents of Change".

The three-day event was filled with
bonding time and socializing between
members from different chapters.

The convention included sharing from
experts in their field, as well as an awards
ceremony.

Members also made valuable connections
by sharing stories and engaging with one
another during various social activities.

47th INSTALATTION &
AWARDS LUNCHEON

JCI Intan has successfully conducted their 47th
Installation and Awards Luncheon on 22nd May
2022 at Hilton Hotel, Kota Kinabalu. The highlight
of the event was the installation of Madam Raewyn
Jonney as JCI Intan’s 2022 president and her Board
of Directors. With her presidential theme
‘ELEVATE’, which is to provide opportunities for
JCI Intan members to develop their leadership
skills and potential at various levels within the 4
areas of development opportunities in JCI –
Personal Development, Community, Business, and
International. She believes this will lift them from
the comfort zone that enables them to ELEVATE
themselves to a greater height.
Besides the installation of the 2022 president and
her Board of Directors, this event also recognised
the hard work, outstanding performance, and
generous support from JCI Intan friends, members,
associate members, and past presidents.
Therefore, a total of 14 awards were awarded to 14
Individuals and a group based on their 2021
performance.

5 TIPS UNTUK MENJADI

EMCEE Y A N G L E B I H B A I K

"5 Tips untuk menjadi emcee yang lebih baik" was hosted by JCI Kulim in
collaboration with JCI George Town, JCI Intan and JCI Padawan. The training
was conducted via Zoom Meeting.

Mr. Chandra Anand, the invited speaker who has bountiful experience in this
field has shared with us more than 5 tips on how to improve our emceeing
skills in the future. Volunteers were asked to do hands-on practice and
received constructive comments from the speaker.

At the end of the session, the Q&A session was open to all participants to have
more understanding of this topic.

SUPER GMM

JCI Lintas and JCI Moyog hosted
JCIM Area Sabah West Coast
Super GMM led by JCI Malaysia
Area Sabah. The event was held
at the Rungus House, KDCA
Penampang, and it was
supported by JCI Intan, JCI
Tanjung Aru, and JCI Tawau.The
theme of this event was the
traditional culture of Sabah.

The event was honored by the
presence of JCIM National
President Ellen Lu Ping Ping,
NEVP Michael Chang, NVP
Regina Ngu, JCI Senators, Past
Presidents, 2022 JCI Sabah Local
Presidents, and JCI Members.

The night included a variety of
activities for attendees to enjoy—
one of which was a team-based
game that required patience
from all players to win. Everyone
had fun playing!

Another highlight was rice wine
tasting made by NP Ellen Lu and
other LO Presidents earlier in the
month of May.
