‘Wavelength will be a site specific visual experiment in
Bottle Alley, a unique space that joins Hastings with St
Leonards and one now synonymous with ZEROH and
Coastal Currents’.

Daniel Hardiker and Neil Hetherington (of ZEROH) had a
vision for Bottle Alley, a historic land mark on Hastings
seafront that did need a bit of a face list.

We are very proud to say, with the help of PPG (Leyland
and Johstones paint) that we helped them realise their
vision ... and we think you’ll agree, the result is pretty
spectacular.

After spending a few years in the British army and
East Sussex Fire & Rescue service I decided that a
less stressful work life was in order, move forward 25
years and many contracts later, I’m still decorating
and still enjoying it.

I decided to take on bigger projects about 7 years
ago and although i don’t directly employ anyone, I
have up to 9 sub contractor painters working for me
buBtetfhorise goes up and down.
I have done contracts up in London Canary Wharf
and we will travel out of our main work area of
Brighton & Hove should the work arise.

On the whole we keep very busy considering that I
do not advertise and only rely on recommendations.
I’ve built up a good customer base and get a lot of
repeat custom.
Normally in the school holidays we are working in
Schools in and around Brighton, Including Downs
junior & infant school and Roedean school.
We have also completed work in various other
schools too.
A lot of our work is for Property developers and
obviously private households.
We do occasionally do work for Sussex University.

We have Pasta certificates, Ipaf licenses, ladder
safety certificates, asbestos awareness and Cscs
cards, of which I personally carry the gold card
which is good for running a team of decorators on
site.
All of my sub-contractors have City & Guilds or NVQ
level qualifications for decorating and they are time
served for more years than they like to let on.

seemed like a perfect evolution for Trade Paints.

made up of two shops.

you’d expect from a branch of Trade Paints as well as

lightbulbs & logs to name a few).

The plan is very much to combine the knowledge we
have of the decorating world with the more diverse
selection one would expect from a traditional DIY store.
In the event that we don’t have what you’re after you
have our word that we will do all in our power to get it,
ideally the very next day!

coffee for our customers, free wet paint signs and free
delivery.

economical and robust paints.

Colins Bird Tables

Colins Bird Tables is a small local
business started by Colin Edwards 20
years ago.
Sarah Sherwood & her husband Steve
took over from Sarah’s dad Colin in
March 2017.
They design and build bespoke bird
tables and dove cotes from a small
unit at Bodiam business park.
Over the past 18 months they have
introduced a number of new
designs.

They use Sadolin and Cuprinol products to paint the
items and as you can see from the photos they are
finished to a very high standard.

They sell the bird tables both privately or at local
craft fairs etc.
