There are long-term vacation savings in owning a timeshare and such ownership provides
you with the best possible vacation options. Too often, those that purchase a timeshare are
swept away by the presentation and forget that they have to pay maintenance fees every
year that go up with the inflation rate (and sometimes more depending on improvements
and renovations). If you are financing your purchase, you are making monthly payments at

a relatively high interest rate in addition to paying the annual maintenance fees.
A new timeshare owner also doesn’t realize that in reserving a week at their timeshare or
trading their timeshare for another week at another location may require several months
advanced reservations. Too often, the complaint exists that an owner is not able to secure
the week they want at the location they want. So just maybe that timeshare has become an
albatross. The resort may purchase it back, but only for pennies on the dollar or most likely,
you have to pay them to give it back, and you must be in good standing with the resort in
order to even do that. A real estate company or broker is not a good option because even

though they will list your timeshare without cost, the commission on a timeshare sale
is virtually nothing compared to a house or building. The best option may be to rent out
your timeshare year after year to cover your maintenance fees. To do that, use a reputable
