TIMESHARE TRENDS Brightline high speed rail finally started its Orlando-to-Miami service. “Opening up Orlando fulfills our ultimate business model,” Patrick Goddard, president of Brightline, said in a prepared statement. “There’s incredible enthusiasm from the business and tourism industries eager to travel between Central and South Florida. As we start service to Orlando for peak holiday seasons, everyone should check calendars, make plans, visit the app, or our website and reserve a seat now.” The train will run 16 daily round trips between Orlando and Miami, with access to stations in West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, Ft Lauderdale and Aventura. With the debut of the train, Brightline is exploring potential for stations in Brevard County and on the Treasure Coast. Brightline has plans to eventually connect to Tampa. When service stabilizes by 2025, Brightline expects 4.3 million long-distance passengers annually that includes residents, businesspeople and tourists going between South Florida and Orlando. The “Sunshine Corridor,” a shared SunRail and Brightline service is currently in the planning stages. It will have a price tag of over $2 billion before it can be completed. The Orlando Commuter Rail (SunRail) will share a corridor with Brightline. The corridor will connect Orlando International Airport with train stations at the expanding Orange County Convention Center and International Drive. Work that will be necessary to get the project completed will be new stations, new track, bridge work and signals. The focus on the premium vacation rentals segment will allow members to unlock access to residential rental accommodations across the United States in key travel destinations like Colorado, Hawaii and more with plans to grow the platform globally. Villas at Disneyland Hotel has officially opened in California with 344 themed units. The new addition to this resort now invites guests into the realms of Disney tales while offering home-like comforts with contemporary styling, just a short walk from the Disneyland Resort parks. The 12-floor structure joins the Disney timeshare resort network as now the 16th Disney Vacation Club resort. Notably, it’s the first standalone Disney Vacation Club offering at Disneyland Resort since the debut of The Villas at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa in 2009. This addition is also significant as it’s the first new building for this Disneyland Hotel since 1979. Crotched Mountain Resort in New Hampshire is closed. Recently, more than 75% of Crotched Mountain Resort owners voted to terminate the existing timeshare trust to prepare the property for sale. As a result, the Crotched Mountain Resort closed on Aug. 1, 2023, and will no longer be included in the Wyndham resort portfolio. According to officials at RCI, you can still book a stay in New Hampshire through RCI Timeshares are coming to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort. Walt Disney World has a permit under review that will begin work on replacing cabins at the property. The vacation club will replace existing cabins. Nestled across 750 acres of scenic woods, plans call for more than 350 new cabins to replace the existing cabins at the resort. Additionally, the proposed cabins will be built with an eye toward the environment, utilizing the footprint of what exists and adding energy-efficient features. Disney says each cabin will sleep up to six adults. Disney World is raising ticket

Each pass has a different set of features that can include blockout dates to visit the parks to no blockout dates whatsoever, as well as a range of three to five allowed reservations to theme parks. The Disney Pixie Dust Pass will be $439, up $40 from $399. The Disney Pirate Pass will be $799, up $50 from $749. The Disney Sorcerer Pass: $999, up $30 from $969, and the Disney Incredi-Pass will be $1,449, up $50 from $1,399. Also, the theme park announced a $5 increase to its parking price from $25 to $30. Parking is included in the annual passes and for guests staying at Disney resorts. In addition, Disney announced that its Park Hopper perk will return to full access on Jan. 9, currently there are certain restrictions to the feature such as allowing park hopping only after 2 p.m. Also, Disney has hinted that January will include “Good-to-Go Days,” which are select calendar dates for annual pass holders that will not require a theme park reservation. Right now there is no change to Disney’s daily ticket prices that often vary by date between $134 to $164 or more, based on the theme park. Rapid increases in Disney ticket prices has been a major gripe among those planning to visit Disney both from Florida and out-of-state. It is yet to be seen if this will lead to more of a drop in attendance at the parks. Disney has announced that it will accelerate and expand its capital spending in its Disney Parks to $60 billion in the next ten years, nearly double that of the past decade. That will include investing in expanding and enhancing domestic and international parks as well as cruise line capacity, and prioritizing projects to generate strong returns. The plan references adding 1,000 hotel rooms and more units to the Disney Vacation Club. The company also said it has more than 1,000 developable acres across all of its existing parks, “the equivalent of about seven new Disneyland Parks,” with Walt Disney World in Orlando having a vast amount of land available for growth and expansion. Newsweek and Plant-A Insights Group created this list by conducting a largescale independent survey based on well over 224,000 reviews. Tourism is returning in West Maui near wildfire-ravaged Lahaina as hotels and timeshare properties open for business. The area around the the town largely destroyed by wildfire two months ago began welcoming back travelers after the mayor and Hawaii’s governor pushed ahead to restart tourism to boost the economy despite some opposition. Five hotels in West Maui were accepting reservations again, according to their websites and the Maui Hotel and Lodging Association. In addition, eight timeshare resorts in which visitors have an ownership stake, in their room, were opening across the region, including some not far from the devastation. Reopenings fell on the two-month anniversary of the wildfire that killed at least 98 and destroyed more than 2,000 structures, many of them homes and apartments. Many local residents have objected to resuming tourism in West Maui, which includes Lahaina and a stretch of coastline to the north. Opponents said they don’t want travelers asking them about their traumatic experiences while they are grieving the loss of their loved ones and also processing the destruction of their homes.
