Are there areas in your life where you’ve had to make sacrifices to be faithful to God’s promptings? If so, what was the result? Are there areas where you are struggling, out of fear, to make sacrifices? Chapter 6 - God Honors Sacrifice PAGE 49
Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowd. After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. Later that night, he was there alone, and the boat was already a considerable distance from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it.Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear. But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”“Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.”“Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down. Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.” Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowd. For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and do not return there, But water the earth, And make it bring forth and bud, That it may give seed to the sower And bread to the eater, So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” - Isaiah 55:9-11 (NKJV) To see God respond to your actions, you must be aligned with His directives. There is a huge, yet uncomplicated, difference between stepping out and finding nothing and stepping out and finding something. When you have a word from God and have the tenacity to obey it, He will honor your movement 100% of the time. When we move in response to God’s instructions, He moves heaven and earth for us. Sometimes, when things aren’t working out and we are hitting roadblocks everywhere, it might be good to “pump the brakes” and check back in with God to see if He has something better. This doesn’t mean we stop moving. It just means we move in the right direction, towards the face of God! Other times, when it feels you are facing the greatest opposition, you are actually in a season where God is doing the most work (behind the scenes) to open a bigger door for you. To do’s CHAPTER 7 Begin to seek God earnestly for the gift of Discernment. This is one of the gifts of the Spirit that is the golden key to knowing the difference between Satan’s opposition and God’s redirection. List any paths you have been attempting to walk where you have encountered opposition or redirection. Pray over each item on your list. Ask God if this is Him redirecting you to a better path or Satan opposing you in an attempt to block your blessing. Connect with a multitude of godly counselors that can help you with perspective, without personal emotional fog. Seek God’s Word to ensure the path you are on does not violate Biblical principles. Let your faith eradicate any fear of moving forward in God’s ordained steps for you. PAGE 54
Heavenly Father, My heart’s desire truly is to follow Your directives and to have my steps ordered by You. Grant me the gift of discernment that I may be able to quickly determine those things that are opposition from the enemy and those that are re-directives from You. Immunize me from discouragement as I travel through this season of accurately defining the paths You have prepared for me to walk. Prayer PAGE 55

PAGE 59 Read God Honors Movement Chapter 8 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. - Psalm 23:2-3 (KJV) Sometimes, instead of God giving you the go-ahead for your intended project, He diverts you to preparation for the project. Long before there is a realization of the dream, there is the refining fire of preparation. There are so many things that can happen along the journey of preparation. Each of them opens the door to something bigger than simply finishing a task. Sometimes the question is not, ‘Did I hit my goal?’, but rather ‘Am I a better person because I took the journey?’ Anyone that is worth their weight has a vision that is bigger than their realized provision. Remember, God is always in action. He is always on the move. When he says, “Be still and know that I am God”, there is a reason. You must do something in the process of that stillness. The very experiences you’ve gone through, successes and failures, are going to be used by God to do his next work in your life. A command to be still may mean taking a season of time to listen, get the proper counsel, and obtain understanding. When the command is to wait, the enemy likes to provide you with a multitude of feelings, i.e. abandonment, frustration, impatience, despair. Don’t listen to these emotions. Questions 01. Sometimes God diverts you to prepare before you move forward. On pages 73 and 74, Jeff lists four things that can happen during this journey of preparation. What are they? 02. When Peter was in prison, what did the other followers do? 03. Peter was unable to change his circumstances. The only thing he could control was how he reacted to his circumstance. What frame of mind did he embrace while he waited on God? 04. When Peter was in a place where he could do nothing about his situation, he was literally hours away from an incredible display of God’s miracles. How many miracles took place during Peter’s experience of being delivered from prison? PAGE 60
To do’s Heavenly Father, Sometimes I have a strong desire to “make things happen.” Don’t let my excitement and emotions speak louder than Your still small voice. Help me to always remember to check with you before I make a move. May my desires never outpace Your timing, that I may always be victorious. Prayer Make a list of those things you are certain God has told you not to move on, or those areas where you are simply unable to do anything else but be still. Ask God what you are supposed to be doing while you are waiting for Him to move. Obtain a godly accountability partner to assist you in understanding when you are to move and when you are to be still. Rest in assuredness that God will come through for you. PAGE 61

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever. - Psalm 23:5-6 (NKJV) God has anointed you to accomplish something. Discovering that anointing will lead you into the kind of movement that God honors. Before you step out into movement, you should know two things: • That you are anointed • What you are anointed to do People who operate in the area of their anointing wield a confidence that is unmistakable. They have that inner understanding that God is working for them because He is the one that gave them their assignment. There is a strong link between anointing and identity. There are times when God will pick the most unqualified person and then qualify that person so that man can’t get the glory; only He can. Every single fall in pursuit of God’s purposes is, in the end, still a move in the right direction. Bible Reading Elisha Anointed by Elijah - 2 Kings 2:9-14 CHAPTER 9

Now write down ways you can walk out the assignments that are within your anointing. As Elisha followed Elijah, is there someone who can help you learn how to walk in the anointing you desire? Elisha was required to do a certain thing to receive the anointing he desired. Has God given you accompanying instructions to go along with your request? If so, write them down and keep them before you. If not, pray to ensure that you are not missing something. PAGE 66

And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out for fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.” And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” So He said, “Come.” - Matthew 14:25-29 (NKJV) Some risks are required if we want to keep up with the Holy Spirit. Our willingness to risk doesn’t obligate God to do anything, but it does please him! In fact, God loves it when we’re willing to take a risk for the right reasons. We must be willing to risk our dreams, our time, our energy, and our comfort zone if we have any hope of moving in a way that God will honor. The good news is financial provision always follows a God-birthed vision. Some people say, “Just wait, and the right door will open up.” While in some situations this is indeed the right approach to take, many times this is what we say when we don’t know how to figure out what to do next. Unfortunately, some people value sounding spiritual more than getting something done. It would be a shame if you lived your whole life dreaming great things and never acting on them because you thought you might not be successful. Some refuse to take risks because they aren’t familiar with the territory they are dreaming about. Sometimes it’s necessary CHAPTER 10
to place people around you that have been down the road you want to go down so they can help you plan a strategy that will lead to success while navigating around common missteps. Risk without revelation can result in exhausting motion without great rewards. Sometimes fear and complacency are successful at just bogging us down and slowing our pace to such a degree that we never accomplish anything of importance. When you determine that you are going to seek God’s voice for your next steps, you must submit in your heart that you will do whatever He assigns you. To do’s CHAPTER 10 Heavenly Father, Thank You for opportunities that I do not yet see. Thank You for Your patience as You have waited for me to be willing to take risks. Please help me find or renew the visions and dreams that You have for me. As I seek to do Your will, surround me with the wise counsel that I need that I may stay the course You have destined for me. Prayer Naomi was Ruth’s wise counsel. Without her advice, Ruth would have missed the one move that charted the course for the rest of her life. Make a list of three to five wise people of counsel that could provide you with advice that might change your life. Make a list of the visions and dreams you have. Before you meet with your wise counsel, make a list of questions about your dreams. These should be questions that help you with developing next steps in the pursuit of making your dreams become reality. PAGE 76

Yet when he is found, he must restore sevenfold; He may have to give up all the substance of his house. - Proverbs 6:30-31 (NKJV) And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force. - Matthew 11:12 (NKJV) Unfortunately, there are things we all face that are completely out of our control. They are beyond our ability to understand, and we must release them into the hands of God and trust Him that He sees the big picture and works all things together for our good. Too many times, we sit around and nurse the pain of loss rather than stirring up the fight for restoration. While there are legitimate times that we lose things and can do nothing about it, there are also times we have an opportunity to fight back. Recognizing and seizing those opportunities is critical to holding on to the blessings God has for you. Understanding when to move, and move with aggression, is many times key to what could be a short window of opportunity. Don’t hesitate to defend what is rightfully yours. The enemy of your breakthrough always reigns in fear with the purpose of paralyzing you. It wants to keep you from moving. Once you truly understand that even the slightest move catches God’s attention and evokes His response on your behalf, nothing will be able to stop you. Please instill within me tenacity and courage to stand my ground and fight. I will not back down and let the enemy take what You have given me or promised me. I am tired of being attacked and run off. I will be strong in the Lord and in the power of Your might that You may bring about a great victory in my life. I will never run again. I will fight for what is mine! Prayer Make a list of your “bean fields.” These are things that you are willing to fight for. They can include things you already have or visions and dreams that you must fight to obtain. List your reasons for fighting for each of these “bean fields.” At the end of this passage it says, “Shammah struck the Philistines down, and the Lord brought about a great victory.” (NIV) Write down what God may be asking you to strike down in your life so that He can bring about a great victory for you.

There are times that God prompts us to do things simply because we are His hands and feet. Sometimes you have to get yourself out there in front of people and into the middle of situations for God to be able to work through you. Maybe all you have to do is just move, and He will put you in the right place at the right time for your miracle! This is the power of movement. What characteristics in Abraham do you think earned a relationship of this nature with God? 02. In Genesis Chapter 12, we see God form a covenant with Abraham. What was required of Abraham to enter into this covenant? 03. What did God promise Abraham as a result of this covenant? 04. Who would benefit through Abraham’s obedience to move?

What are some Biblical examples where God required someone to move in a way that pushed them out of their comfort zone? 07. What Bible or personal stories have you encountered that show the power of following God’s timing for miracles to happen? 08. Reflect back over the study. What are your favorite Biblical examples of God requiring His children to move? How did God use their faithfulness to bless them and others?

Chapter 10 - Movement Requires Risk In Chapter 11, we heard the story of Shammah defending his bean field while others fled. A bean field seems insignificant to some. Why do you think Shammah defended a bean field? Share a situation where you or a friend have fought for something because it was rightfully yours. How do you find the courage to stand your ground when others are fleeing? Chapter 11 - Movement Requires Resilience
PAGE 93 Has there ever been a time that God used you to do something, and you didn’t realize it until later on? Has God ever asked you to do something when you didn’t know exactly what the end result was going to be? Is there anything like this that He is asking you to do currently? God called Abraham to leave his place of comfort and familiarity, and he was willing to do so. Has God ever called you to do something that took you out of your comfort zone? Is He calling you to do something like that now? Chapter 12 - Get Moving
Last word from the author Thank you for reading God Honors Movement. I pray it has inspired you to take that next leap of faith that God is speaking to you about. Maybe this book brought confirmation to you for something you have been feeling for some time. Possibly you have never stepped from your safe place to a place of adventurous trust in God. Wherever you are in your walk with God, I pray that you just keep moving. That you never give up. That you never forget that God sees every move you make and that He is faithful to His promises. May God give you confidence in the place of hesitancy and faith in place of fear. Keep moving, and may God bless you indeed as you put works to your faith.
