Revelation Chapter 6: Features the first four seals of
Revelation

Introduction of the Four Horseman Riders
The famous horseman of the the apocalypse the four
horseman and their riders symbolize great devastation

over earth. But what is their meaning?

TRIBE: Judah, Issachar, Zebulon.
Sits in the East
Color: Black

I looked and behold a White Horse. He who sat on it had a bow,
and a crown was given to him. And he went out conquering and to
conquer. The first living creature is the lion.

The rider is not Christ. For Christ holds the book of seven seals.
Christ does not appear until chapter 19:11-16, which in this
scripture he comes with armies of heaven to engage in the battle of
Armageddon. And in the scriptures he is called the Word of God.
And there is no weapon of warfare in his hand, but a sharp sword
comes out of his mouth and the effect will be swift and terrible to
his enemies the rider has a bow no arrow is mentioned, he not
crowned at first but a crown will be given to him later a victor’s
crown as a reward for his victories the white horse rider is a prince
who is to come, The White Horse representing the successful
spread of the gospel, the color white also represent righteousness
in the Bible. The horseman also represents the Holy Spirit, and
triumph. The rider holding a bow indicates the place of origin
during that time. In which a class of Emperors all from the same
family whose origins where from Crete Is located in Southeastern
Greece in the Mediterranean Sea, one of the largest Greek island.
The Minoan is one the earliest civilizations. The white horse riders
are sometimes identified as a symbol of Parthians, they were
known for its mounted warriors and their skills with the bow &
arrow. And their endless defeat of their emeries. This is the first
seals.

TRIBE: Ephraim, Manasseh, Benjamin.
Sits in the West
Color: Crimson

Sits in the East
Color: Black

And when he opened the second seals, I heard the second
living creatures saying “come and see. “Another horse,
fiery red went out. And it was granted to the one who sat
on it to take peace from the earth. And that people should

kill one another; and there was given to him a great
sword. Rev 6:3-4

Human societies seem to be inherently violent. Times of
peace and are too often ended by conflict and war. We
need to look back over even the twentieth century that we
have lived through two world wars one cold war, mass
murders the ethnic cleansing in Germany, the Sudan,
Cambodia, Rwanda, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq. And
history will view the twentieth century as the period in
which terrorism became commonplace. Even some of the
great men of the bible records show that even Moses was
a commander of Egypt armies before god called him,
Exodus 2:11-12, Joshua led the forces of Israel in the

wilderness and eventually conquered much of the
Promised Land... and David fought so many wars and

killed so many men that God denied him the opportunity
to build him a temple. (1Chronicles 22:7-8, 28:3). Yet the

bible predicts that the time end will be the bloodiest
period of mankind will ever experience. The second
horseman is perhaps the most easily identifiable of the
famed Four Horseman. Both of the symbols the fiery red
color and the great sword, are well known to represent
war. This color red represents intimates heat and ferocity
like an out of control wildfire. The color red in the Old
Testament symbolizes blood. But scarlet can also
represent wealth and luxury. The horseman’s great
sword is not an ordinary sword of war it is a short sword
or a long knife like a dagger. Sort of like a knife you
would use to slaughter an animal for food. This type of
sword was worn by magistrates and executioners. That it
was great meant it was larger or longer than usual or that
it was highly effective in doing its job. In Revelation 6:8,
“And power was given to the (four horseman) to kill with
sword, with hunger, with death. A “great sword”, then,
is the equivalent of a thoroughly effective instrument of
death. The sword is often a symbol of God’s judgment.
John’s description of the red horse Jesus says wars and
rumor of wars. The second seals plainly represent
conflict, war, and destruction. Now remember the second
seal is open by the second living creature who says
‘come and see’ Rev 6:3, Rev 4:7 gives us the order of
the living creatures as a lion, calf, man, and the eagle. So
the living creature introduces the second seal of war is
probably the Calf. Just as the first seal introduction by

the Lion, ferocious pursuit of prey so does the calf
foretell the red horseman’s main trait. The calf, young
bull or ox, it is known for its staying power and strength.
It can pull a plow all day without complaint. Some have

been known to work and work until they die from
exhaustion. A calf or an ox will just keep going,
relentless, untiring worker. We are to consider the red
horse and his rider the same, unceasing, untiring.

The red horseman with its fiery red horse, great sword
and restless aggression is a fearsome symbol of

unremitting intensifying uncontrolled, horrific conflict.
God intends this figure To instill terror in mankind in the

hope that we will repent and be save of its self-
destruction and death. Jesus Christ and I quote “we
can escape it if we watch and be sober” that is if we

are spiritually alert.

As terrifying as he is the red rider is followed by another
lethal horseman one whose job is to “take care of” those

who survive his brother’s bloody onslaught.

Tribe of Reuben, Simeon, Gad
Sits in the south.
Color: Green

When he had opened the third seal, I heard the third
living creature say come and see. ‘So I
looked and behold, a Black Horse, and
he who sat on it had a pair of balances
in his hand. The third living creature is
the Man.

And I heard a voice in the midst of the four living
creatures saying, a quarter of wheat for a
denarius, and three quarts of barley for a

denarius; and do not harm the oil and the wine.
The Apostle John description of this third horse and
horseman once again john provides us only with two
pertinent details; the black color of the horse and the
rider’s pair of scales both point to famine, the rider has
the power to kill with hunger. We consider black to be

the opposite of white, so therefore we think black as evil,
darkness. Biblically black is not the
color of sin, but simply an object’s true

color. The word black or blackness appears 23 times in
the bible. This does not mean the color of black does not
have a symbolic meaning, the Israelites used black to
morn and unhealthy mien. In Hebrew the black horse is
the picture of illness. The pair of scales translates the

Greek word which literally means ‘yoke’ as I
yoke of an oxen or the yoke of bondage. The
beam of balance, which resembles s yoke’s crossbeam
joins or couples the two pans so that they are evenly
matched. So the purpose of the balance is to determine
that the contents of the two pans are equal. In ancient
times, the value or quantity of a thing was determined by
weighing it on scales, things were brought and sold by
weight and measurement. Rather than currency based
system. God in the Old Testament used scales; Solomon
declares “The Lord weighs the spirit or motives and
attitudes of people. In Proverbs Job says let me be
weighed, weigh me in a just manner. After describing the
black horse John hears a voice in a midst of the four
creatures saying a quart of wheat for a denarius who said
it? John simply says a voice. And in the midst around the
throne the four living creatures, It must have come from

the one sitting on the throne God himself
utter these words!

Pockets of abundance or it could be that

practically no oil left, so not to harm.

A man can toil all day and never really get ahead. The
horseman is represented by the third living creature
identified in Rev 4:7 as having a face like a man.
Symbolically speaking God puts a face on the third seal.
A man’s face may also be a reminder of man’s role in
theses devastating judgments. They do not happen they
are caused. Man’s wars, slay thousands maybe millions
of man women and child. He destroys lands, demolish
vital industrial manufacturing. Torn society famine is the
consequence of inhumanity. But it shall come to pass if
you do not obey the voice of the Lord your God to
observe carefully all his commandments, your heavens
which are over your head shall be bronze, and the earth
which shall be iron. The lord shall change rain of your
land to powder and dust and you shall plant much seed,
but carry out little.

The Final Horse, the Pale Horse Rider

When he had open the fourth seal, I heard the voice of
the four living creature say, come and I looked and

behold a pale horse! And its rider’s name is death, and
Hades followed Him. And they were given authority over
a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword, and with famine,

and with pestilence and by the wild beast of the earth.
Pale is normally what the skin color of someone dead.
The rider on this horse takes up a fourth of the lives of
those who lived on earth. Remember Jesus mentions the

fact that many will be delivered up in a tribulation.
Whatever the pale horse represents, we know that God

will judge world in righteousness someday. And
everyone will have to give account for what they did with

their lives. Rev 20:12-15 tells the fatal outcome for all
who refuse to repent and trust in Christ. The Hades
simply is a state in which all dead exist, to refer to

someone’s death and disembodied existence. In this sense
even Jesus enters the Hades.

This is our interpretation of the 4 horseman riders, the
four living creatures as they relate in the book of

Revelation and the same four standards and the 12 tribes
that were demonstrated in the Heroines of Jericho. Grace
Pough’s Grand College is attempting to tie the ritualistic

study to the degree of Heroines of Jericho, in order to
give its membership the correlation of the order as you
excel into the highest degree a female can excel into in

this Fraternal journey.
