to evaluate heating and cooling efficiency!

In the European Union, the Ecodesign Directive 2009/125/EC sets mandatory energy efficiency
requirements for all energy related products. The new method of measuring energy efficiency is
SCOP in heating and SEER in cooling.

What is SCOP (Seasonal Coefficient of Performance)

The Seasonal Coefficient of Performance (SCOP) is the new European parameter to evaluate
the energy efficiency of heat pumps. It replaces the Coefficient of Performance (COP), which
measured the ratio of power consumed to power produced in the heating mode on a single
operating point.

SCOP Calculation

SCOP is the ratio between annual heating demand and annual energy input over an entire
heating season. Unlike its predecessor, the SCOP is representative of operation during the
heating season as it includes seasonal variations by defining several realistic measurement
points. Together, these contribute to classification in the correct energy efficiency class.

What is SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio)

The SEER rating of a unit is the cooling output during a typical cooling-season divided by the
total electric energy input during the same period. The higher the unit's SEER rating the more
energy efficient it is.

SEER Calculation

The Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) indicates the overall cooling efficiency of air
conditioner and heat pump systems for the whole cooling season. The higher the SEER number,
the greater the efficiency and the greater the energy savings. It is calculated as the Reference
annual cooling demand divided by the annual electricity consumption for cooling.

They use ultra-quiet inverter compressors, equipped with
9 slots and 6 poles, operating at variable speeds and

savings up to 70% and powerful dehumidification.
The compressor speed modulates automatically, much
like a car on cruise control, so the system isn’t constantly
running at maximum capacity and only draws energy when
it's needed.

For greater efficiency and comfort, both the outdoor and indoor fans are controlled electronically to
provide the required air-flow while constantly maintaining the desired temperature.

The outdoor fan, controlled by a microprocessor, can operate in five different speeds. This enables
the unit to reach the set-temperature quickly and minimize energy consumption and noise at a lower
speed while maintaining the same temperature.

The indoor fan has twelve different speeds that ensure accurate temperature control, comfortable
air-flow and silent operation.

NEW REFRIGERANTS
TOWARDS A GREENER FUTURE!

In 1987, the Montreal Protocol on substances that deplete the ozone layer set the foundations on
protecting the ozone layer and the environment, by gradually phasing out the refrigerants responsible
for the ozone depletion over the Antarctica.
Since then, revisions of the Montreal Protocol, international agreements and European Union
legislative acts like the F-Gas regulation, aim to control and diminish emissions from fluorinated
greenhouse gases (F-gases) and hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) that have a high Global Warming Potential
(GWP) and deplete the ozone.
Carrier has been tirelessly leading the way towards a greener, sustainable future, with innovative,
efficient and eco-friendly products that meet environmental standards as well as customer’s needs.
Towards this path, Carrier has been producing, testing and certifying its new generation of R32
refrigerant air-conditioning units, ensuring high quality and excellent performance.

The new R32 refrigerant has 67% smaller Global Warming Potential compared to R410A. Furthermore,
the R32 can deliver an equal thermal capacity to R410A with 30% less refrigerant charge, which means
less refrigerant is needed for each unit. As a result, the total CO₂ emission can be reduced by around 75%.

environment for them through your mobile device. When you are away for long periods.

With the application you can control all your air-conditioning units independently. The app can sync
with all your units and you can name them as you prefer, so that you know which room you control
