PRONOUNS

What is PRONOUN?

• PRONOUN is a word that replace the noun in a sentence.
• It consists of three (3) categories; personal pronouns,

possessive and demonstrative pronouns.

The overview of chapter.

PRONOUNS

1. Personal Pronoun 2. Possessive 3. Demonstrative

Replacing the noun in a Show ownership. Used to point at
sentence. things/people.
(menunjukkan kepunyaan)
(menggantikan kata nama (Guna untuk tunjuk ke arah
dalam ayat) For example: sesuatu benda / orang)
my (mine), your (yours), his, her
For example: (hers), their (theirs), our (ours), For example:
I (me), He (him), She (her), We its this (these), that (those)
(us), They (them), It (it)

PERSONAL PRONOUNS

(Kata ganti nama diri)

Menggantikan kata nama di dalam ayat.

The basic **sentence structure consist of:

Subject MESTI didepan ayat, + VERB Object MESTI berada SELEPAS
SEBELUM Verb. Verb.

** Subject (TIDAK semestinya dihujung ayat !!!)

+ Object

Pronoun + VERB + Pronoun
(Subject) (perbuatan) (Object)

For example: Verb Object

Subject scolded the naughty boy.

Ms Siti

She scolded him.

For example:

Subject Verb Object

Mr. Jack teaches Yani and I English language.

He teaches us English language.

** teach/teaches = mengajar

POSSESSIVE

(Kepunyaan)

Menunjukkan kepunyaan / hak milik.

2. Possessive

• There are 2 ; possessive adjective & possessive pronouns.
• Both are used to show ownership.

[Keduanya digunakan utk menunjukkan hak milik / kepunyaan.]

Tengok kedudukan Noun (Kata nama) dlm ayat.

my + noun noun + mine
your + noun noun + yours
his + noun noun + his

her + noun noun + hers

its + noun -

their + noun noun + theirs

our + noun noun + ours

For example: Possessive Pronouns

Possessive Adjective n

n That book is mine.

That is my book. n

n Is the hand phone yours?/
Is this yours?
Is this your hand phone?

n = noun (Kata nama)

Apostrophes ( ‘ )

• Show possession (Menunjukkan hak milik juga.)

Singular noun Plural noun

Add (‘s) to the noun Add ( ‘ ) to the noun end in s Add (‘s) to the noun

That is John’s car. These are my friends’ bicycles. The children’s father came to

see me.

DEMONSTRATIVE PRONOUNS

Guna untuk tunjuk ke arah benda/orang.

3. Demonstrative Pronouns

• Used to POINT to things / people. (digunakan utk TUNJUK kearah sesuatu

benda/orang)

Near (dekat) Far ( jauh )

• Lihat kedudukan & bilangan orang / benda tersebut.

For example: Near (Dekat) Far (Jauh)

INTERROGATIVE PRONOUNS

Guna untuk tanya soalan .

Used to ask questions
on something.
