Global Executive Doctor of Education Program
Pre-Orientation Checklist
1. Confirm your Acceptance for the Global Executive Doctor of Education
To access university resources such as activating your USC E-mail Account you need to confirm your
acceptance for the Global Executive Doctor of Education. Please visit the following link to confirm
your enrollment: https://you.usc.edu/login/
2. Activate Your USC Account
To begin your USC journey, you will first need to activate your USC Account by following the steps of
the First Login - www.usc.edu/firstlogin. Please follow the directions in activating your account;
read the policies and choose a secure password. For more information regarding your account,
including changing your password, account quotas, or renewal, please go to
http://www.usc.edu/its/services/accounts/. If you need assistance, please call the ITS Customer
Support Center at (213) 740-5555 to speak with a computer consultant or contact our office.
3. Set Up Your USC Email
Email has been adopted as the primary mechanism for sending official communications to USC
students. Students must check their USC email accounts regularly in order to stay abreast of
important messages and notifications. Failure to read official university communications sent to
students’ official email addresses does not absolve students from knowing and complying with the
content of official communications. Once you have activated your USC account, please log into
your email account through https://my.usc.edu/portal/guest.php to ensure that everything works
properly.
Check your USC email account regularly for messages from Nadine Singh regarding updates, news,
and upcoming events. Faculty will send important assignments, changes and announcements for
class meetings, and other notices to your USC email address only. Instructors and the Director are
advised not to send emails to non-USC accounts (e.g. hotmail, Gmail, yahoo, AOL, .k12.ca.us).
Instructions on how to forward your USC e-mail account to another account that you use more
frequently can be found at the following website:
http://www.usc.edu/its/email/help/forwarding.html.
You will also need to be aware of whether your account is approaching its storage quota during your
time as an Global Executive Ed.D. student. If your account goes over quota, you will not be able to
receive essential emails from instructors and USC administration.
4. Login to MyUSC
Once you have activated your USC student account, you will be able to log into myUSC at
https://my.usc.edu/portal/guest.php. We have included a myUSC tutorial in this packet. This
website allows you to have access to various resources such as OASIS, Web Registration, ARES, ePay,
and others under Student Links.
ARES will be utilized to access readings. We have included an ARES tutorial in this packet.
ePay gives you the opportunity to view and pay your billing statement.

Audio Requirements
We recommend that you utilize a hands-free method during live Class Times and Office Hours. If using a landline, you may
be able to find a headset or Bluetooth set that is an accessory for your phone. If using a cellphone, you can use any
standard headset with microphone that plugs into the audio jack (or a Bluetooth). If using a softphone (like Skype or
Google Voice, you will need a computer headset with microphone that either plugs into the USB drive or the audio jack).
We recommend the use of a landline or a headset over the use of a softphone because softphones compete with 2SC for

Adobe Connect Requirements
--You will use adobe connect for all of your synchronous LIVE class sessions. It is similar to the room you used for your
