DIVERSITY . . . THIS IS HOW WE SEE IT
Diversity is the multitude of personal
characteristics that make each of us unique,
many of which are attributed to our
demographic backgrounds, e.g. race, ethnicity,
gender, sexual orientation, religion,
socioeconomic strata, and many other visible
or detectable traits. This multiplicity of
personal traits contributes to the vibrancy,
creativity and wealth of our society.
Nonetheless, these same diverse
characteristics can become a challenge when
they are viewed as “less than,” thus barriers
to the entry, acceptance, support and success
of individuals from various demographic
groups.

At Rose-Hulman, We’re Number ONE
For 18 years in a row, Rose-Hulman has been
ranked # 1 in U.S. News & World Report
among institutions whose highest degree in
engineering is the master's.
And, we plan to remain # 1, which is why we
place such high importance on diversity.
Scholarly research has shown that the ability
to live, learn and work in environments that
are rich in diversity is vital to the success of all
students, faculty and staff.
This is why we will approach diversifying our
campus (students, faculty and staff) and
supporting our diverse constituents with the
same focus, intensity and commitment to
excellence that we apply to our academic
standing . . . Because we’re on a mission!
