The Little Bullies

DRIZZLEKIDS

Emeka is a quiet and shy little boy, he flops at questions and cave in to shame, his classmates consider him airhead, with no one to
call his friend, and his teacher became his best friend. With all the attention from his teacher Emeka still finds it difficult to
pronounce the word “HIPPO-PO-TA- MUS”. That amused everyone in class including the dull bullies. But the teacher was always
kind to him she would press hard for some try with gentle pats and kind words.

Now the day is over, Emeka couldn’t go home with his friends because he had no friends. He walks alone on a grassy land with no
one to talk with, but he like it as it makes him slow walk home while he stare at the moo cows and their calves on the other side of

the grassy land.
But this time something struck him, he got so amazed watching the mother cow with a jug of milk pouring down some into glass
cups for her calves. “This has never been before” he said to himself. But soon realized he needed to head home as quick as he
could, because the grassy land is a long way home.

Emeka's mother twisted his ear because he came home late.

Despite the warning, Emeka took the same lonely path again. This time, he trekked further and further into the grassy land. He
was amazed at what he saw! The calves were reading books! Books he normally found difficult to read, along with solving hard
mathematical equations. He snapped out of it after a second, running home quickly to beat his curfew.

7 : 35am

The following day, Emeka sneakily slid a cup into his bag. He did this in the corner of the room to prevent his parents and
siblings from noticing.

The school bell rang at exactly 2pm.
School was over and pupils were allowed to go home. Emeka jumped off his seat quickly, swung his bag over his shoulder, and
rushed down the hallway. His quick actions caused laughter and gossip among his pupils. He never looked back at them and
disappeared like a distant ship.

He arrived at the grassy area, where he saw the calves in line. They each had a cup that the mother cow with a jug was pouring
what seemed like a liquid milky in color. He jumped into the line.

Soon, it was his turn and he was served. He stared for a while watching the calves drinking. Then, he gulped his milk within split
seconds. The Mother Cow and her calves laughed at him, because he gulped too fast.

When he was done, he quickly threw aside his cup and ran toward the road. He kept the same pace and was soon out of sight
down the road.

The race made him feel tired the moment he got home. He managed a slow walk to his room and fell like a log straight on his bed for
a long nap.
His mother walked into the room to remind him he needed to do his assignment and asked if he needed help.

He rolled off the bed, grabbed his bag, and took out his books. His mother stood by his side in case he needed help. She watched
him attempt the problems.
Her mouth gaped open and her face flushed. Emeka could solve mathematical problems without her help! Emeka kept on solving
with his newfound ability and smiled until he was done.

7 : 35am

The following day, Emeka woke up early, and got ready for school. This surprised everyone in the house, who were shocked by
his sudden readiness for school and his smart look. He never cared about school before.

He walked straight to his seat, said his usual short prayer, and was ready for the day.

He was in Math class and it was hard for everyone. The teacher taught the pupils and began asking them questions.

Emeka raised his hand to answer all the questions and got them right. The teacher screamed in amazement, while all of the pupils
looked at Emeka.

Emeka became the wonder boy; solving equations, reading fluently, while maintaining a decent attitude at school and at home.
He made so many friends! Everyone loved Emeka and cheered for him. His young female teacher friend was proud of him.

Despite Emeka's new ways, a few of his bully classmates ganged up on him and followed him on his way home. They wondered what
had suddenly made Emeka intelligent.

Emeka never noticed them behind him as he was walking. Once he noticed and reached the grassy land, he changed his direction.
He went towards where the calves and mother cow were waiting on him to join them for the milk drinking as usual.

He was happy and felt at home whenever he is with them; as usual he joined in, was served, and drank with the others savoring
every taste of the milk.

While with the others, Mother Cow heard some footsteps and she said. “Will you boys come over here?”
The bullies froze at the voice of the mother cow, but they couldn't turn back to run. With a huge lump of fear in their throats,
they walked slowly toward Mother Cow, and kept their eyes to the ground.

The kind Mother Cow didn't growl at them, but instead she served them a glass of Cow's milk each! They all drank and felt their
faces started to brighten up.

They became so cheerful in no time and hugged Emeka. The calves joined in, forming a big circle to celebrate the greatness of
having a glass of Cow's milk, with Mother Cow by their sides lifting up a jug of Cow's milk.

The End!!!
