1Nakhon Ratchasima Rajabhat University

NRRU IN BRIEF

Nakhon Ratchasima Rajabhat University (NRRU) is
a large government funded university providing
a broad range of Higher Education and training
services in the lower Northeastern region of
Thailand. NRRU was originally founded in 1913 as a
teacher training school, commonly known as
Krumoon Nonsung. It then gradually progressed to
become Nakhon Ratchasima Teachers’ College
before finally being conferred from an “Institute” to a
“University” on 15 June 2004.

NRRU has a long and rich history. It was formerly
recognized as a high quality teachers’ college
which then later extended into other fields and
disciplines. The university offers a wide range of
undergraduate and graduate programs and also
provides various kinds of support for university
staff. NRRU is now confident in moving further and
offering not just Master’s Programs but also
Doctoral Programs.

The university mission is to provide Higher
Education, professional training centers,
teaching and research plus academic
services to the community, as well as
seeking to improve, transfer and develop
knowledge in the fields of technology, art
and cultural resource conservation and
to produce a high standard of qualified
teachers and educational staff.

THE NRRU SEAL

The NRRU Seal is based on The Royal Seal of His Majesty

King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great King Rama IX. Symbols

on the Seal include the Octagon Royal Seat with the Chakra,

having the Sanskrit character , which refers to the

number 9, in the middle. The Chakra emits rays all around

including a seven-tiered white umbrella of state on the top.

The seven-tiered white umbrella of state upon the octagon

base represents His Majesty’s sovereign power, due to the

historical fact that His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the

Great sat on the Royal Octagon Seat when congressmen

presented him with holy water from all eight directions during

the Coronation Ceremony. On top of the Outer area of the

Seal are the Thai characters“มหาวิทยาลัยราชภฏั นครราชสีมา”with

“NAKHON RATCHASIMA RAJABHAT UNIVERSITY” underneath

in English.

The Colors of the University Seal consist of five different colors as follows:

Blue representing the Monarchy who Gold representing prosperity and
has established the University and gave wisdom.
the name “Rajabhat”
Red representing the prosperity of local
Green representing the location of all wisdom in all Rajabhat Universities.
Rajabhat Universities in greenery and
beautiful campuses. White representing the pure intellectuality
of His Majesty the King’s philosophy.

FACILITIES AT NRRU

NRRU Library

The NRRU library, also commonly known as the Academic Resources
and Information Technology Office, is located at Building number 23.
It is opened Monday to Sunday from 8.00 a.m. - 4.30 p.m. and closed
on Public Holidays. Additionally, an after-hours service is provided
according to the academic year calendar. The library’s resources
include books, journals, newspapers and some multimedia resources
published on CD, VCD and DVD. Some resources are limited to use
within the library, including journals, newspapers, rare books and
reference books.

Computer Center

Nakhon Ratchasima Rajabhat University provides computers
and networking support at both the Computer Center, located on
the 2nd floor, and Computer Labs, located on the 3rd floor, of Building
number 27. Classrooms are provided for teaching. Information retrieval
and internet services are provided for students as well as for faculty and
administrative officers.

Language Institute

The Language Institute’s mission is to develop language
knowledge and skills for students, staff and any interested person. The center
provides language courses in languages such as English, French,
Chinese and Japanese. The courses are offered by native speakers
and qualified teachers, at different levels of proficiency. The center also
provides academic services through various courses, including: English
for Job Application, TOEIC and TOEFL Preparation, Teacher Training,
Academic English Camp, TKT Preparation, Language Improvement
for Teachers, English for Communication, English for Teachers and
Administrators.

Art and Culture Center

The center is a resource for local Art and
Culture research. The objective of the center is
to preserve and promote Korat cultural identities.
It also aims to create networks in the fields of
art and culture and to facilitate local wisdom
collaborations.

Petrified Wood Museum

The Petrified Wood Museum is situated on
184 Mitrapap-Nongpling Road, Moo 7, Baan
KrokDuen Ha, Suranaree sub-district, Muang
district, Nakhonratchasima. It comprises an area
of 80 rais, 23 kilometers away from the city of
Nakhonratchasima. It is one of seven fossil museums in
the world as well as the first museum of its kind in Asia.
It is open Tuesday – Sunday from 8.30 a.m. – 4.30 p.m.
and closed on Mondays.

Special Education Center, Faculty of
Education

The Special Education Center offers educational opportunities
to students with special needs and also enhances their development.
The center provides services for preparing these children in terms
of social and study skills in order to get them ready for studying at
the elementary level. The center also provides advice for parents,
educators and those who are involved with these special needs
children in order to expand social opportunities for these children.
The university also has students with disabilities, such as hearing and
sight impaired students, studying with other students.

Science Center, Faculty of Science
and Technology

The Science Center aims to be a center for the development of
teaching and learning sciences and applied sciences as well as a
resource center with modern technological equipment providing
academic services for science students, teachers, researchers, and
educators.

Tubkaew Field Experience Training Center

The center’s purpose is to provide training for students in various
fields. It offers accommodation and meeting rooms. The rooms are well
equipped with air-conditioners and facilities.

Health Promotion Center

The center offers a fully-equipped fitness center for students and
staff as well as any other interested persons. Extra services include
Aerobic Dance and Yoga lessons. It is opened Monday - Friday from
8.30 a.m. – 20.00 p.m. and Saturday – Sunday from 9.00 a.m. – 16.30
p.m. and closed on public holidays or in accordance with University
announcements.

University Business Incubator (UBI)

The UBI was founded to develop entrepreneurship and
provide business advice for those who are interested in running a business.
The center also aims to develop business networking for business
cooperation. It serves effectively and efficiently as a one-stop service
unit for new entrepreneurs.
