FROM OUR PRESIDENT FROM OUR PRESIDENT Kimberly Schlosser

Welcome to Theatre Aspen’s 34th Season! We have so much to celebrate,
and we are thrilled to bring you another unforgettable summer with three
stellar productions that will make you want to cheer, sing, dance, laugh, and
contemplate. As always, we have something for everyone…the BIG, crazy-fun
musical Hairspray (suitable for all audiences), a sexy play, Sex with Strangers
(recommended for ages 15+), and our family musical, The World According
to Snoopy. In other words, I hope to see you at the Hurst Theatre multiple
times this summer.

Along with our highly anticipated Summer Season, I am extremely proud
of our Theatre Aspen School (TAS) education programs and musical
workshops. I hope you will support our hardworking, young actors and
attend performances of Alice in Wonderland and Spamalot. Speaking of education, our Apprentice Program
continues to attract the best, brightest and most talented college students from top Musical Theatre and
Drama programs from around the country. I am thrilled David Gram, our fantastic Apprentice Coordinator, is
back for his fifth consecutive year. You can witness the immeasurable talents of these up-and-coming theatre
professionals at the Apprentice Showcase on August 13th.

Being a patron of Theatre Aspen productions for over 30 years, I am beyond honored to be the new President
of the Theatre Aspen Board. This position is truly a dream come true. Serving as a board member for the past
eight years and witnessing the devotion of those who have come before me, I am inspired to dedicate my
time and energy to bring Theatre Aspen to great heights. I feel fortunate to be surrounded by the strongest,
most dedicated and passionate Board of Trustees I have yet to experience in my philanthropic life. I am
thankful for the support of our incredibly hardworking and committed staff, including our newest addition
Markus Potter. Markus was originally hired as our Associate Artistic Director and is currently serving in the
role of Interim Artistic Director. Markus’ exuberant enthusiasm and passion for theatre is unparalleled, and
I look forward to beginning our next chapter led by his infectious energy, vast theatrical knowledge, and
experience. Finally, I am especially grateful for Paige Price, who has been instrumental in transforming our
small town summer theatre into a nationally recognized, premier theatre with audiences that travel from all
over to attend. Theatre Aspen is in an excellent position--I know we will continue on this upward trajectory
we have been on for the past several years. As Paige recently wrote in an email, “We are an award-winning
destination theatre, with even bigger things ahead of us.”

Thank you for sharing my passion and enthusiasm for Theatre Aspen. There is no place like our magical Hurst
Theatre, where the intimacy envelops you and transports you inside the story you are watching unfold. Thanks
to loyal patrons like YOU, our talented staff, dedicated Board of Trustees, extraordinarily talented creative
teams, actors and crew members, our BIG DREAMS are coming true!

With heartfelt gratitude,

2 THEATRE ASPEN

Markus Potter FROM OUR INTERIM ARTISTIC DIRECTOR FROM OUR INTERIM ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

Thank you for welcoming me to the Theatre Aspen family! It is my extreme
privilege to join the Theatre Aspen staff as your Interim Artistic Director.
Thank you to the staff, Board of Directors, and the amazing Paige Price for
your enthusiastic welcome. I am truly excited to be here and eager to help
navigate the company through this important transition. I will strive to both
honor Theatre Aspen's history and bring a new energy to its future.

I am very excited about our 34th anniversary season, which asks us to
"Dream Big." Questions of race relations and social justice are ever-present
in modern America, and Hairspray manages to examine these issues in a
meaningful way without skimping on wildly fun musical numbers or the trademark
wit of John Waters. By showing us that equality can triumph if we work for it,
Hairspray proves to be a valuable show in today's divided political climate.

Sex with Strangers is a complex study of love and identity in the digital age. It's a compelling comedy that
examines whether emotional intimacy and a person's sense of self can survive the widening influence of the
internet. Written by Laura Eason, this play is unafraid to ask whether art, love, or our own identities can survive
the internet. It may not provide easy answers, but this show examines these questions in a smart, funny,
engaging, and sexy way.

We’re also proud to present a newly revised version of the Peanuts musical Snoopy!, now titled The World
According to Snoopy. This iteration combines beloved songs charming, classic characters with new compositions
and even more dance elements! It's a welcome next step for the Peanuts gang who'll have the audience rolling
with laughter and delight thanks to this inventive new take on a favorite show.

Our 3rd annual Aspen Theatre Festival for new works includes an ambitious new improv/sketch musical
mash up, The Mad Show! in collaboration with Warner Brothers. Since its creation in 1952, Mad has been
skewering all aspects of culture and politics, inspiring people like Matthew Weiner (creator of Mad Men) and
Roger Ebert to look at our gloriously nutty world in a different way. Theatre Aspen is thrilled to help bring
Mad's brand of irreverent snarkiness to life on the stage.

I look forward to meeting you and getting to know what kind of stories excite you most. I'm eager to get
to know the people who make Theatre Aspen so special and hope to immerse myself as fully as possible in
your creative world.

Paige Price and the rest of the team have grown this theatre company in ways that inspire me, and we are
poised to enter an exciting new phase of growth and expansion. Theatre Aspen's future is one of endless
possibility, and I'm honored to have been invited to help lead the next steps of its artistic future.

Dream big and enjoy the show!

Markus Potter, Interim Artistic Director
