Dear Parents and Carers
Uckfield College Sixth Form is in the Top 5% of all (private, state and grammar) schools nationally!

In September I wrote to share with you the great news that students in our Sixth Form achieved in the top 10%
of all (private, state and grammar) schools nationally. This was using a national measure produced by ALPS.
This week the Department for Education (DfE) said we are in the top 5% when they published their analyses on
their website:
DfE table showing A level 16-18 performance

Each school has a progress score that shows how much students have achieved from GCSE to A level. Uckfield
College’s Progress Score is +0.43, which is described by the DfE as ‘Well Above Average’. The DfE
have analysed our Progress as being in the top 5% of all (private, state and grammar) schools.

The Progress that students make in a school is a reflection of the quality of teaching and learning, the efforts
that students put in and the support of pastoral staff and parents. Well done to all our students for their
concentration, self-discipline and resilience; thank you to our teachers for their inspirational
teaching, the pastoral team for their mentoring and, of course, to you the parents and carers for
your support. A great team effort has led to such exceptional outcomes.

The DfE also analyses the attainment of all the students. The average A level grade our students were awarded
was a B- (which is above the national average, which is a C+).

Once again, I am so proud of what our students have achieved.

Warmest regards,

 Hugh Hennebry

Principal

Notices

Can all parents/carers please be aware of an App named 'Tellonym'. The function
of the app is to allow anonymous messages to be sent and received. T his makes
anonymous bullying very accessible online. The only scenario in which the
sender's identity can be shown is during a court case so tracking down bullies on
this platform is dangerously difficult.

We understand that friends like to be connected online as well as in person but our fear is that involvement
with this app (which is rated as 17+) will result in an escalation of bullying with limited consequences.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Neuro-Ninja Tool-Kit Seminar 4: Through Anxiety & Beyond

Our next seminar is coming up on Wed 26th Feb 6 - 7pm at Uckfield College. In this seminar we finish our
look at anxiety and the human brain. In this seminar we turn our attention to social anxiety and the stresses

other people can cause our brains. Don't worry if you
haven't come to any of the previous seminars, we
always give a brief re-cap.

Our brains were built for a world that no longer exists
and social anxiety is the new kid on the block as far
as our brains are concerned in terms of things to get
worried about it. In this engaging, innovative and
compassionately delivered seminar we look at why
our brains can find the complexity of other people so
difficult sometimes.
