Dear Parents and Carers,

Parent Voice

As a college we strive for excellence and to provide high quality education for every individual student. We
value your thoughts and ideas about how we can improve. We are not complacent and know that there are
things that could be done even better.

Good parental engagement and discussion are both essential. Over the years we have tried a number of
different methods including questionnaires that we have sent out to parents/carers, questionnaires that we have
encouraged parents to complete while at Parents’ Evenings and Parent Voice evenings. At the last Parent Voice
meeting we invited all parents/carers and all of our Strategic Leadership Team were there to enable small group
discussion. There were so few parents/carers there that I met the group and then asked them if we should
change our approach and instead of having an occasional open invitation evening with low numbers, we would
meet with a few interested parents/carers more frequently. Instead of having one evening where we would try
and discuss everything, we would have six meetings a year (one hour each) and cover fewer topics but in more
depth.

The parents/carers were keen to do so and therefore, for about two years we have held the Parent Voice Group
meetings with Parent Voice representatives. Each year I have invited any interested parents to join. The
membership of the group has changed over that time and it has always been a fairly representative group of
parents with different aged children at the College.

As we look ahead to next year, I am interested to know how parents would prefer to have their voice heard. I
would be very grateful if you would complete the attached google doc survey.

Thank you for your Parkrun support

Thank you very much to all the parents/carers who have put your Tesco blue tokens in the Parkrun charity box.
I have heard that as a result of your generosity, we should be able to support our Parkrun as it continues to
flourish. Thank you also to all of you who have been helping your children to take part, particularly the Year 7
participation day last week and the Year 8 participation day this Saturday 6th July. It is also Year 7 Sports Day
5k on the 6th July at Parkrun. Well done to not only our Year 7s and Year 8s but also the other students (and
many ex-students who take part regularly). It is also great to see parents enjoying it too.

New Uniform

Please remember that all students in Years 7-11 need to be in the new uniform by September. Please note that
they only need to be in the new PE uniform by September 2020.

I hope all our students have a great week next week, whether they are doing Enrichment activities, Work
Experience or 6th Form enhancement work.

Kind regards
Hugh Hennebry
Principal
