Dear Parents/Carers,
Piano Restoration / Maintenance Fund

Several years ago our Bechstein Grand Piano was fully restored to its former glory in part through very kind
donations. The music department are now looking to raise money to restore the school's five other acoustic
pianos, including the Broadwood Grand in the music practice rooms, before our move into the new South
Building.

Music is an incredibly important part of a child's development and we are very lucky to have so many acoustic
pianos at Uckfield College for students to use both inside and outside of lesson time. They do however, need
regular maintenance and tuning to keep them in good repair. Over the years the pianos have become well used
and our Broadwood grand piano in particular is in need of some repairs.

Mr Towgood, one of our teachers, has very kindly donated £100 to begin a new piano restoration fund to
support this worthy cause and the music department would welcome any further contributions to ensure that
students continue to have the
opportunity to play real pianos.

Kind regards
Hugh Hennebry
Principal

School Uniform
We are delighted that the vast majority of our students are taking real pride in their appearance, attending
college every day looking very smart and professional.

We do still have a few students who are ignoring some aspects of the college uniform policy and so we have
decided to change the incorrect uniform sanction from a break time to an after school 1-hour

detention.

24-hour challenge for Mind - Y 13 The Business Team

The level 3 BTEC business students in year 13 are raising money
for Mind, a mental health charity, by running/cycling for 24 hours.
The event will take place on S aturday the 23rd of November
at 9 am on Eastbourne's seafront.
There are 15 of us taking part - 14 students and our teacher Mrs
Alvarez.
Our intention is to cycle or run for 24-hours nonstop and raise a minimum of £500. We are hoping that
students, staff, and parents will support our challenge by donating via our Just Giving page. We would also
welcome people joining us for some or all of the challenge.

We will be completing as many 7 mile laps (out and back on Eastbourne seafront) ) as possible in the
24-hours so people could join us for a minimum of 7 miles.
The start of each lap is at Fisherman's Green 131 Royal Parade, Eastbourne BN22 7LH.
Thank you in advance for all of your support.
