Demonstration and Observation Sessions for I year B.Ed.

Demonstration is one of the best training method for student teachers on how
to utilize the different skills of teaching learned in theory in actual classroom setup.
A demonstration session by the senior teachers of Dr. K K Nirmala Girls Higher
Secondary School, Ashok Nagar, Chennai was held on 28th September, 2021 for all
subjects. It provided some useful tips and classroom management skills that can be
used during the teaching practice session in schools.

A class room observation is an act of witnessing a teacher’s performance in the
real class room or learning environment. Classroom observation is a quantitative
way of recording and measuring teacher’s behaviour by systematically analysing
and practicing. During the teaching internship the teacher trainees make a keen
observation of their guide teachers in the real classroom. The teacher trainees
continue to make their observation even during their teaching practice. They observe
classes taken by the teachers in the co-operating school as well as by the peer group
members. The teacher trainees learn extensively from those observation lessons
and right teaching methodology and other practical tips on classroom management.

King’s Jewels

It was a peaceful morning in the Royal Palace of Godhpur. Until, pandemonium
ensued. The gardeners stood watching in confusion as maids and soldiers ran around
the palace like headless chickens. They caught hold of a sweeper boy passing by.

“What’s the matter? Why is there an uproar in the palace?”

“Oh! Haven’t you heard? Someone’s stolen the King’s jewels! Soldiers have been
sent out to retrieve the jewels and produce the thief in court!”

The pantry-maid joined the gathering. “Oh! Haven’t you heard? The soldiers
have found our King’s jewels. And the thief is in court. Come, let’s hurry before we
miss the show.”

And there, before the Majestic King, stood a trembling palace maid. Tears
streamed down her cheeks in a steady line. “Your Majesty, I swear on my son’s life. I
have no idea how those jewels came to be in my house.”

“Silence!” A minister burst out. “Our Wise King has no time for your lies. Await
your punishment.” He looked to the King, proud as a peacock.

The King sat looking at the maid’s son. He gestured the 5-year-old boy over. The
maid gently encouraged her shy boy to go over. The King sat him on his lap. With a
gesture, he dismissed his ministers and the crowd gathered there.

“What’s your name?” The King asked.

“Para.” The boy replied, fiddling with the King’s gold bracelet.

“Do you like it?”

The boy vigorously nodded his head.

The King chuckled as he removed the bracelet and handed it to the boy. Para
didn’t hesitate to try on the heavy bracelet, which slid up till his shoulders. The King
let out a light laugh.

He removed his chains. “Do you want them?”

Again, the boy nodded his head vigorously. The King gently fastened the gold
and ivory chains around the boy’s neck and set him down. The King beamed at Para.

“Look at you! Adorned with fine jewels, like a true King.”

Para clapped his hands in glee. Then his face fell. He handed back the chains and
the bracelet. “I’m sorry. Will you forgive me?” He asked, eyes cast down.

The amused ruler sat back in his throne. “Forgive you? What for?”

“I took your jewels. I was only trying them on. When I saw the trouble I had
created, I got scared. And I hid the jewels in my room. Please, will you forgive me?”
Para started sobbing.

The King took the child in his arms. “Little Para. I admire your courage. You have
accepted your mistake.” He wiped away the boy’s tears. “However, taking someone’s
possessions without their permission is wrong. Always ask before you take. Next
time you want to try on my jewels, ask me. Now, be good to your mother and don’t
give her any more trouble.” He handed over Para to his mother. “He’s a child. Let him
learn.”

The maid and her son folded their hands in gratitude. The astute King of Godhpur
had yet again served justice to his people.

THE FARMERS

The farmers play a vital role in our daily life. Once in a while you need a doctor,
a lawyer, a policeman but three times everyday you need the farmers. Their life is
loaded with hard work, a farmer works throughout the day so that the world can
have their meals.

The farmers have deep understanding of Nature. The real Heroes are the farmers
who grow the crops for decades to fulfil the needs of the word. Though a farmer is
poor, he feeds the others and makes them get one of the main basic needs. Due to
the climatic conditions, terms and regulations they have been deprived.

So, let us wake up and support these real heroes for providing us one of the
basic needs of our life. It isn’t only the farm that makes the farmers, it is the love,
hard work and dedication through which he keeps others to live a healthy life.

Therefore, let us be thankful and also support the farmers for he is the person
who makes a meaningful life in this beautiful world that God has gifted us.

Thank a Farmer”
