NFBPWC 2022 GA Program

NFBPWC Biennial Conference and GA Program 2022

NOMINEES FOR OFFICE

PRESIDENT –
Megan Shellman-Rickard

As President of NFBPWC for the 2020-2022 term I had the
aspiration to light a path for our future that promoted solidarity,
diversity, inclusion, innovation, and experience. There were specific
goals that were set for our organization to achieve during my term:

- Encourage a diverse membership across generations
- Cultivate leaders from all walks of life and at every phase of their
careers
- Create a more vibrant space for virtual interactions that span
across the nation and globe
- Increase our relevancy by aligning with like-minded organizations so that we can achieve
our mission more fully

Over the past two years we have worked hard with the Executive Committee, the Board of
Directors, and many of our inspirational members to achieve a start to these goals. My
leadership journey, as our President, has been full of both humbling and empowering
moments. I hope to continue this path of leadership as I work to provide a map for the next
generation of leaders. We have created a solid foundation of organizational memory, structure,
and inspiration. We are the foremothers our future is looking to find, and I humbly ask for the
honor to lead this organization for another term.

establish the value of NFBPWC membership with the goal of increasing retention and attracting diversity
in new members that represent today's American businesswomen.

BPW SERVICE, LEADERSHIP ROLES AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS

As the current 2nd VP of Advocacy, it has been my mission to “bring life” to
our Advocacy Platform by weaving aspects of it through many initiatives,
programs, and committees. As an active member of the DEI, ESD, AWP and
other committees, I consistently help identify issues relative to the NFBPWC
mission. During my tenure, I have presented to our NC and PA affiliates, the
California Federation’s Public Policy Meeting. Additionally, I have served as a
mentor for our two outstanding interns. As the Chair of the Advocacy
Committee (A-Team), I have helped foster a space for members to reflect on,
discuss, and analyze current issues, and to collaborate, create and curate
action steps to address them. The implementation of the OneClick Politics (OCP) digital advocacy
platform has been an exciting accomplishment. This platform has amplified the collective and individual
voices of NFBPWC and our members on issues like the ERA, VAWA, and voting rights. I am equally proud
of leading the effort to develop and implement a process to extend the usage of the platform to include
our committees, chapters/affiliates, and federations to address issues specific to their locale or area of
interest.

BPW SERVICE, LEADERSHIP ROLES AND
ACCOMPLISHMENTS

I began with NBPWC as a summer intern for the NYC chapter. As the
UN/Advocacy intern for BPW-NYC, I represented the organization on
the NGO Committee on Migration and helped develop the chapter's advocacy platform. I was also
responsible for creating content in line with our advocacy platform and designing our Ning website.

After finishing my internship with BPW-NYC, I have continued as a YBPW member, founding and steering
the Afghan Women Project and elected the NYC YBPW representative on the chapter's executive
committee. Through my involvement with the AWP, I have worked to engage YBPW in the US and share
the project internationally. Recently, I have engaged members in NYC to attend the Youth Assembly, a
conference to connect young leaders worldwide and share the work of NFBPWC with others. This should
be a great opportunity to market the organization and interest new members.
