YC FOUNDATION
The Yeshiva College Foundation (YCF) is the fundraising arm of the school and was established in 2011. The Foundation is a fully registered Non-Profit Organisation and is a Public Benefit Organisation and as such, is able to issue S18A tax certificates for all donations received.
Foundation Board and Trustees
In January 2015, a Foundation Board was established in order to ensure corporate governance and further expand the capabilities of the Yeshiva College Foundation. An independent Board of Trustees is now responsible for the financial administration of the foundation so as to ensure that all fiduciary responsibilities are met. The board members include our esteemed Rosh Yeshiva, Rabbi Avraham Tanzer, Rabbi Leron Bernstein (MD), and trustees - Lawrie Brozin, Richard Friedland, Jonathan Jawno, Benjy Porter, Martin Kalmek and Michelle Krengel. The Exco also sits on this board including Israel Bender, Laurence Rapp and Richard Herring. We thank them all for their dedication of time and valuable contributions to strengthen and grow the Yeshiva College Foundation.

TRIBUTE TO A LEGEND
The Yeshiva College Family deeply mourns the passing of Gerald Leissner z”l
Reflections from Rabbi Tanzer as referenced in his introductory words to the 2016 Annual Report.
“For close to 50 years Gerald was an uncrowned king of the South African Jewish Community as he led the leading institutions and was responsible for the creation of new institutions such as Foundation 2000 and the Johannesburg Holocaust Museum.
For the last 36 years, Gerald devoted his life to the success of Yeshiva College School and Shul in all that he did. As I said at his levaya “In ensuring the growth of Yeshiva College, Gerald took on the roles of Chairman, Treasurer and Managing Director all together - devoting his heart and soul to the well being of Yeshiva College.” Most recently, Gerald returned to active leadership in the school, when he chaired a newly established Yeshiva College Foundation Board in 2014, filling that role until his untimely passing.
Gerald leaves behind a legacy of unmatched communal leadership through his wisdom, humility, mesirut nefesh and generosity. His dedication and self-sacrifice to community is a great example to us all and he will be sorely missed by our entire community and by all those who had the privilege of knowing this great man.
Yeshiva College has lost a true father, may his memory be a blessing and inspiration to all of us.”

Father and Son Breakfast
Bafana Bafana and SuperSport United Captain, Dean Furman inspired our Yeshiva College attendees with his message from the heart at our unique Father and Son Breakfast. Dean has just completed a 4 year Sports Degree and is committed to study further emphasising to the children the importance of having an education following retiring from professional sport.
We thank Stan Matthews, CEO of SuperSport and the brainchild behind the event. Stan has been involved in the formal training and upskilling of our coaching staff together with the coaches and staff of our sister school in Alexandra Township, Iphuteng Primary school. We look forward to partnering further with Supersport United and continuing with similar initiatives in the future.
Breakfasts with the Rosh Yeshiva
We periodically invite our alumni to have the privilege of davening with our Boys’ High School, followed by breakfast with the Rosh Yeshiva. These intimate get togethers are a great highlight for our alumni, as they reminisce with their classmates provide our alumni with the ability to engage in some Torah wisdom from our beloved Rosh Yeshiva on a direct and intimate level, while sharing wonderful memories of their time as students at Yeshiva College.

PROJECTS
and Campaigns This fund provides much needed financial assistance for families in need, thereby providing future generations of children with the crucial grounding and comprehensive Torah education, provided by Yeshiva College. A portion of the funds will also be set aside, for the upskilling of teaching assistants, providing them with the ability to build their futures too. This provision of equal opportunities and assistance of those less fortunate are values that were of
supreme importance to both Jenny and Marion.
In 2016, our campus was privileged to welcome a new Sefer Torah in memory of Marion Falk z”l. A beautiful and uplifting Hachnasat Sefer Torah was held for the entire community, followed by fun activities on the campus for children and parents, to celebrate this momentous occasion.
Life Campaign
In Elul 5776, we launched our ‘Life’ fundraising campaign, with the aim of signing on new donors to commit to R18,000 per annum, to significantly broaden our base of annuity income. This campaign is in recognition of the unique Yeshiva College education that encompasses the broad spectrum of life - promoting a Torah that infuses meaning into all of life’s varied experiences - from the Beit Medrash to the Sports Field. The Life Campaign also acknowledges the power of Torah education in giving the gift of life in its ability to direct our children towards living lives of profound meaning and purpose.
