Kamon Kawkitinarong is the Associate Professor of the division of pulmonary
and pulmonary critical care medicine at Chulalongkorn University, King Chulalongkorn
Memorial Hospital, Thailand. He is also the previous Head of ILD assembly under
Thoracic Society of Thailand under Royal Patronage.
Assoc. Prof. Kamon graduated from Chulalongkorn University in 1993 and
received his diploma in Pulmonary Medicine and Pulmonary Critical care Medicine in
2001. He obtained his certificate of Acute Lung Injury from John Hopkins Medical
Institute in 2004.
He has published more than 15 publications in respiratory field and his one area
of interest is Interstitial Lung Diseases (ILDs). He set up “ILD Connect” project under
Thoracic Society of Thailand to build standard of ILD management.

Dr. Syazatul Syakirin is a respiratory physician working at the Institute of
Respiratory Medicine, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She is Lead / Head of the Special Interest
Group for Interstitial Lung Disease within the Malaysian Thoracic Society.
She graduated from the National University of Malaysia in 2003 and
obtained her membership of royal college physician (MRCP) United Kingdom in the year
2010. She pursued respiratory sub-specialty training in Malaysia with further training in
Interstitial Lung Disease in Forli, Italy with Profesor Venerino Poletti.
She is a member of Malaysia Thoracic Society (MTS), Malaysia Association
Bronchology Intervention Pulmonology (MABIP), World Association Bronchology
Intervention Pulmonology (WABIP), Asia Pacific Society of Respirology (APSR),
International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) and World Association
Sarcoidosis and other granulomatous disorders.
She is actively in research and participates in presenting oral and poster in local
and international congress. Her main interests in respiratory medicine are in obstructive
airway disease, tuberculosis and special interest in ILDs.

Prof Flaherty is a Professor of Internal Medicine in the Division of Pulmonary and
Critical Care Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Michigan
in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
He is also the Director of the Michigan Medicine Interstitial Lung Disease program,
Vice-Chair of the Medical School Institutional Review Board for Human Subjects Research,
Associate Program Director Internal Medicine Residency Program - Research, Co-Director
University of Michigan Medical School Scientific Discovery Pathway, Steering committee
chair for the pulmonary fibrosis foundations Care Center Network and Patient Registry.
His clinical and research interests center around the diagnosis, monitoring, and
care of patients with interstitial lung diseases. He is an active participant on grants and
clinical trials related to the study and treatment of patients with idiopathic interstitial
pneumonias, particularly idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.

Chua
Pulmonologist, United Kingdom
Dr. Chua graduated in 1995 from the University of London with First Class Honours
in an intercalated BSc in Immunopathology, the Robert Dick Finals Prize in Medicine and
Surgery, a university distinction in General Pathology and the Helen Webb Prize in
Diseases of Children. He attained membership of the Royal College of Physicians (London)
in 1998.
In 2000, Dr. Chua was awarded a Wellcome Research Training Fellowship to
undertake a PhD degree investigating experimental lung fibrosis. This work involved
defining specific biochemical and cellular mechanisms implicated in promoting lung
scarring.
Dr. Chua’s postgraduate clinical training included posts at Hammersmith Hospital,
Royal Brompton Hospital and University College London Hospital. In 2007, he was
appointed as a consultant at St George’s Hospital, where he established an interstitial
lung disease service, led the hospital’s tuberculosis chest service, and was care group
lead from for respiratory medicine from 2011 until 2014, at which point he joined Royal
Brompton Hospital.
Dr. Chua is an honorary senior lecturer at the National Heart & Lung Institute,
Imperial College London, and a member of a European Respiratory Society task force
for developing guidance on transition care for pediatric ILD patients entering adulthood.
In 2022, he was appointed as the clinical lead in rare diseases for the Southeast England
Genomics Laboratory Hub.

Volkmann
Rheumatologist, USA
Dr. Elizabeth Volkmann is the Director of the UCLA Scleroderma Program and
the founder and Co-Director of the UCLA Connective Tissue Disease-Related Interstitial
Lung Disease (CTD-ILD) Program. She is an internationally recognized expert in systemic
sclerosis and connective tissue disease-related interstitial lung disease.
Board-certified in both Internal Medicine and Rheumatology, Dr. Volkmann
graduated from Pomona College where she majored in Neuroscience and minored in
Dance. She received her medical degree from UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine,
and subsequently completed her residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in
Rheumatology at UCLA. During her fellowship, she participated in the Specialty Training
and Advanced Research (STAR) Program and earned her Master of Science degree in
Clinical Research.
Dr. Volkmann is an active clinical and translational researcher in systemic sclerosis
and interstitial lung disease. Her research focuses on developing personalized treatment
approaches for patients through the discovery of novel biomarkers. She pioneered the
first study to investigate the gut microbiome in patients with systemic sclerosis and now
leads an international consortium of investigators dedicated to understanding how the
gut microbiome contributes to inflammation and clinical symptoms in patients with
systemic sclerosis. She also participates in clinical trials to help identify new therapies for
patients with autoimmune diseases.
She strives to provide humanistic and compassionate care and seeks to empower
her patients to improve their health through traditional, as well as more holistic approaches.

Maneechotesuwan
Pulmonologist, Thailand
Prof. Kittipong Maneechotesuwan is Professor of Respiratory Disease and TB
Department of Internal Medicine, Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, Thailand. He is Head
of Asthma Assembly in Asian Pacific and Japanese Thoracic Society during 2011-2017
as well as Head of Airways Assembly under Thoracic Society of Thailand under Royal
Patronage until present.
He qualified at Mahidol University and Imperial College London and was appointed
to his present post in 1997. He is also a member of editorial board for respiratory journal
since 2011 and have more than 35 publications in related respiratory field. His research
interest is focused on basic science and inflammatory mechanism of asthma and COPD.
He is involved in multidisciplinary translational research which integrates basic science
with clinical studies and having interest in new updated science including ILDs.
He has given presentation in World Asthma Meeting, European Respiratory
Meeting, American Thoracic Society Meeting and APSR. He was awarded by Respiratory
Cell and Molecular Biology Society in ATS meeting in 2002.

Rheumatologist, Thailand
Dr. Pakpiengpen Sornwiboonsak is a rheumatologist at Thammasat Hospital,
Thailand. She is a member of Thai Rheumatology Association and Asia Pacific League of
Associations for Rheumatology (APLAR). She graduated from Thammasat University in
2010 and in addition, also has certificate and diploma from the musculoskeletal Course
“Internal Derangement of Joints”, and the Thai Subspecialty Board of Rheumatology,
respectively.
Dr. Pakpiengpen is actively engaged in research related to rheumatology field.
She has done the research topics of comparison treatment outcome of Disease-Modifying
Anti-rheumatic Drugs (DMARDs) in patients with rheumatoid arthritis patients, and
characteristics and outcomes of lupus nephritis with and without renal thrombotic
microangiopathy in Thai patients with SLE.
